We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordyn Krenkel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordyn, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My work as a multi-instrumentalist and music director in Los Angeles lets me give back to the community by helping keep the history and culture of live music alive. Playing different genres and learning from those who came before me allows me to create a richer, more meaningful live sound for new artists. It’s all about blending the old with the new, so the next generation has something to build on and be inspired by.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey in the music industry has been anything but easy, with countless late nights, constant traveling, and last-minute gigs. I had to learn how to manage the pressure of working on multiple projects at one time. I’ve had to build connections from the ground up in a city and industry where I didn’t start with any ties. What sets me apart is my commitment to stepping out of my comfort zone—whether it’s learning new instruments, diving into synthesis, or honing my arranging skills. Surrounding myself with inspiring people and always striving to grow has been key to my progress. I hope people see that my story is about embracing challenges and staying passionate about what I do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting LA for a few days, we’d start with my favorite taco spot, City Tacos in USC Village. After that, we’d explore Downtown LA, hitting up some thrift shops and grabbing kombucha at the nearest Trader Joe’s. Next, we’d swing by H Mart in Koreatown to stock up on some groceries. As evening rolls in, we’d head to The Baked Potato or The Hollywood Bowl to catch a show. To wrap up the night, we’d either hit EightyTwo to play some of their awesome pinball machines or head to The Comedy Store for a show.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My journey has been shaped by so many amazing people and experiences, and I’m beyond grateful for all the support I’ve had along the way. First off, I have to thank my family—my mom, dad, and my sister, Erin—for their constant love and encouragement. I would not be where I am today without their help.

I also want to give a big shoutout to all my former instructors at the Rockit Live Foundation and the Popular Music Program at USC. These incredible educators not only taught me the technical skills I needed, but also showed me the importance of being a lifelong student. Their guidance has played a huge role in shaping the musician and person I am today, and I’m so grateful for everything they’ve done for me.
