We had the good fortune of connecting with Jorgi Paul and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jorgi, what matters most to you?
I’m committed to helping women make financial decisions, control their own resources and shine their lights, unapologetically.

As women, we need long-term security yet most of us are not owning our financial health. Beyond pay gaps, most women hold assets in cash which doesn’t set us up for living longer and growing our wealth with impact. As a result, women own $0.32 to a man’s dollar. For women of color, it is down to pennies.

This economic gap is so big, we need to think big in closing it.

That is where Lady of Record comes in – I believe that real estate ownership is one of the most secure and impactful ways to create a seismic shift in women’s wealth creation for generations to come. And, in order to understand where we’re going, we need to understand where we’ve been. Women have been kept from building equity through property ownership for the better part of history. We are not going back to a broken system.

By 2030, American women are expected to control nearly $30 trillion in financial assets as older generations continue to grow wealth and begin to transfer it to younger generations. Imagine what the world will look like as more and more women invest and put their capital to work in ways that merge their financial objectives and values.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Lady of Record exists to redefine the profile of real estate investors to include women and help them create long-term financial security.

To get there, I help clients buy, sell and lease both residential and commercial properties as their real estate agent and advisor. I work closely with each client to co-develop real estate strategies based on their goals and lead them through the entire lifecycle, from purchasing a first home, to leasing premium space for their business, or growing into a large-scale portfolio over time.

But, Lady of Record does not stop there – rooted in education, I host panel and workshop events, connecting hundreds of women from all backgrounds and developing a new type of community motivated to drive innovative and sustainable change in the real estate industry, together.

Before founding Lady of Record, I began my career a decade earlier at Omnicom’s OMD, the world’s largest media agency, where I grew to help lead $50+ million in strategies for CPG and entertainment brands. Upon realizing my passion for marketing and client relationships could extend into something tangible, I shifted my career and became a commercial real estate investment sales broker at a global firm.

Immediately, the contrast between the creative industry and male-dominated investment world was palpable. However, it took years worth of inequitable interactions with my team and company leaders for it to become unmistakable: I was not in an environment of accountability and shared success. Despite helping my team of two other brokers deliver record-setting results during this time – my experience spanned $1 billion in sales across 100+ properties including Class-A multifamily (up to 300 units), retail, industrial, office and development land – I understood that space was no longer for me and made the decision to leave the industry having no idea what was next, knowing it meant loosing all forms of security.

Then, after a move to New York and months of careful thought it finally became clear – this is why collectively as women we need financial security. To stand up for ourselves, knowing there can be serious consequence, but understanding that together we are there to support one another as we create a new ecosystem.

That’s when the idea for Lady of Record was born – I realized I could use my real estate knowledge in an entirely new way and became motivated by the fact that women are strong individually, but when we come together we are an undeniable force.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love this question! I’d start with a morning walk and stair run along Adelaide Dr. in Santa Monica. The trees and jasmine smell amazing, and on one side of the street you get to take in historic and contemporary architecture, while on the other you’re welcomed with stunning ocean views.

Then, for lunch or dinner, I’d share Luv 2 Eat Thai Bistro on Sunset Blvd. where Chefs Noree Pla and Fern Kaewtathip have created an incredibly warm and comforting classic.

And, to top it all off, no trip to Los Angeles would be complete without visiting Stacie Tabarez (Instagram @stacietabarezhair) for an iconic cut and color – because we all know the difference a phenomenal hair day can make and no one makes you feel more at home in the process than Stacie!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this shoutout to Maci Peterson Philitas – the first person to lift me up so that one day I could do the same for someone else, and also the first person to show me Los Angeles!
