Hi Joseph, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for our business originated from our deep involvement in the jewelry industry and a desire to address ethical concerns associated with traditional earth-mined diamonds.

As someone with over 25 years of experience in the jewelry family business, I witnessed firsthand the mining practices and supply chain issues that plagued the industry.

I was inspired to make a positive change by introducing Lab-Grown Diamonds as an alternative to traditional earth-mined diamonds. I saw that lab-grown diamonds possessed the same quality and visual appeal as natural diamonds, yet they were free from ethical and environmental drawbacks. As a result, Karaters was born – a business that would offer customers an equally valuable gemstone while promoting ethical practices and minimizing the impact on the environment.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our business is called Karaters™, and we specialize in offering a wide range of exquisite jewelry pieces, with a particular focus on Lab-Grown Diamonds. We provide beautifully crafted rings, necklaces, earrings, and more, all made with the highest-quality precious metals and ethically sourced lab-grown diamonds. Our goal is to offer our customers stunning jewelry that not only looks incredible but also aligns with their values and contributes to a better world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Santa Monica Pier for a week-long trip, I would make sure they have the best time ever. We would start our day with a delicious breakfast at The Lobster, a renowned seafood restaurant overlooking the ocean. Afterward, we would head to the pier to enjoy its vibrant atmosphere, take thrilling rides at Pacific Park, and play classic arcade games. We would relish a delightful lunch at the iconic Rusty’s Surf Ranch, known for its lively ambiance and mouthwatering burgers. In the afternoon, we would explore the Third Street Promenade, a bustling pedestrian street filled with shops, street performers, and great people-watching opportunities. As the sun sets, we would savor a delightful dinner at The Albright, a historic restaurant serving fresh seafood with a stunning view of the pier. To add more excitement to our trip, we would rent bikes and ride along the beach path, appreciating the picturesque coastline.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It is also special thanks to my father who has been a role model for me throughout my entire career. He has been in the business for almost 50 years and he is a true leader in the industry. He showed me exactly how to lead a business with ethical standards over money.
