We had the good fortune of connecting with Joseph Bennett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joseph, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from Pomona California. I can’t necessarily say my upbringing was hard, but what I can say is that my city helped mold me into the person I am today.
I wouldn’t be me if it wasn’t for my city, my community was there at times when family wasn’t. So I feel I owe a lot of thanks a recognition to the city that love to call my own.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a clothing line designer, as well as a photographer and content creator. I’ve been through so many life lessons, that I applied to my work ethic. Growing up in Pomona and The Bay Area I was able to see a lot of different types of creative arts that influenced me. In the beginning of starting my brand, I literally was selling merchandise out of my trunk. Now I’m currently in my own store/photography studio. It wasn’t an easy route to get to where I’m at, I dealt with life to get here and we know sometimes things don’t go as planned. The biggest lesson I’ve learned during this journey is to “believe in yourself” if you don’t who will and stand on you plans in life. SIXPS is here and we’re not going anywhere.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Man first off if you came to my city were eating, Now where might be the problem. I’d like to show love to the classic moms and pops some love, so first things first the Pomona Fish Market getting hit up. then El Jefe On Tuesday for taco Tuesday, and Drinks. On the weekends I go to Shisha for a vibe on the weekends, then go and view some local artist work at the art walk in downtown Pomona.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like the time to thank god for his many blessings, as well as my grandmother that’s always been my rock & always there. My father for showing what hard work looks like.
A special thanks to my angel on earth for always keeping me motivated …
