We had the good fortune of connecting with Joseph Mizrachi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joseph, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The conventional wisdom is that risk and reward are correlated. I tend to agree more with Sir Richard Branson’s method of approaching risk. That method is to eliminate as much risk as possible while leaving the upside potential intact. Through my first foray into entrepreneurship, I learned the lesson the hard way. In my first company, I did not reduce the risks and just jumped in gungho. The end of the story wasn’t very fruitful or pleasant. The lesson is still there and thankfully the failure of getting that business off the ground lead me down a path of self-improvement and self-reflection which has made this experience with OG Watches USA all the more pleasant. While there is never a guarantee of success even if you are able to reduce your exposure as much as possible, the reduction of risk allows for a smoother path forward.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are very excited about our partnership with FILA to carry their watch line and be their exclusive reseller on Amazon. I have always been interested in style and fashion and the partnership with FILA is a match made in heaven. The way that they push the envelope and create trends is truly inspiring and being a part of the story is really an honor. And while now the path seems clear and we are growing, it was not always the case. When we first started the business we had our Amazon store blocked by Amazon. At the time, that was our only avenue for the sale of the watches so we thought we were dead in the water before we really even got the chance to get started. Thankfully, between all the partners we were of the idea that we should expand our sales channels and that is what we did. That obstacle forced us to create our own site as well as start to sell on our own website, www.ogwatchesusa.com, Walmart.com and through wholesale accounts. Every day is a challenge but seeing growth every month is super inspiring and reassuring.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
LA is a great city with a lot to offer but my favorite part of LA is the food scene. On the list of go-to spots would have to be Plan Check for their truffle burger, Sugar Fish for the freshest sushi in town, Guelaguetza for the most variety of moles, and Eggtuck for the most unique breakfast sandwich I have ever tried.

As for the nightlife, I’m a fan of the Harlow as well as E.P. & L.P, but one of my favorite places for the view is The Rooftop at The Standard in downtown LA.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without my family, I would not have gotten to where I have gotten. While I can’t say that I have reached the professional success that I would want, I can say that it would have been a much more difficult decision to attempt a second business.
