We had the good fortune of connecting with Becca Briggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Becca, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson I’ve learned through my business has been that it’s important to develop a lifestyle and career that works for you instead of forcing yourself to do things the way you think you should. Most of the expectations and way society is set up is not right for most people – especially sensitives and creatives. This leaves most people feeling like there’s something wrong with them for not being able to easily adapt and succeed, when in reality it’s not a reflection of you; it’s a reflection of the system.
I spent years hustling as a freelancer and working for others, juggling various projects and responsibilities, thinking it’s what I needed to do to succeed. As a result I was in a constant state of burnout, stress, exhaustion, and irritability. Hustle culture, and honestly the entire work structure in our society, is not sustainable or right for the majority of people – yet we force ourselves to try to make it work until we burn out or give up.
Everyone will have an opinion on what you should do and how you should do it, but as creative and sensitive entrepreneurs, it’s actually more beneficial to think outside of the box, experiment, and customize your approach in a way that allows you to naturally and authentically thrive.
What should our readers know about your business?
After being a freelance artist and model for 10 years, I decided to pursue my next career move as a life coach. I actually prefer to call myself a personal growth guide, because I go deep with my clients to help them change deep-rooted beliefs, habits, and patterns that have been keeping them stuck in what’s not working for them. I strive to help the sensitive, creative souls of the world to figure out who they are at their core, heal and expand from what’s not good for them, and learn to express themselves authentically and creatively.
Most of the challenges we have with lack of inspiration/motivation, overworking ourselves, comparing ourselves/feeling not good enough, disorganization/poor time management, blocks, burnout, and poor boundaries stem from us trying to force ourselves to do things in a way that isn’t meant for us. What sets me apart from other coaches/mentors in the self-growth world is that I truly take a customizable approach with each individual client to help them discover the path that’s meant for them.
I’m very passionate about this, because as individuals heal themselves and grow, learning to love, accept, and forgive themselves on a deep level, they put themselves out into the world in their naturally best way. And as more people do this, the more we have people loving, accepting, and forgiving others instead of judging, shaming, and hating others – coming together as a truly connected community. The more this happens, the more we can overall make the world a happier, peaceful, better place for us all.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them to my favorite outdoor nature spots – Griffith Park (and check out the observatory), hiking around Franklin Canyon, Leo Carrillo Beach (while driving through the mountains for a beautiful scenic route).
If we were planning on staying mostly in the valley, as I usually do, I’d take them to some of my favorite food spots – Rodini Park, City Vibes Coffee, Macleod Brewery, Brews Brothers, Republic of Pie just to name a few. We’d shop for witchy goodies at The Crooked Path, thrift at Valley Value, and visit the Farmer’s Market.
If they wanted I’d drive them around to any of the touristy places in Santa Monica, Venice, or Hollywood they wanted to go through – but only because they’re my best friend.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many names that could go on this list, as I’ve gotten to work with and meet so many amazing and talented people who have inspired and motivated me along my journey.
Some standout honorable mentions would be: Linda McQuade, Gunnar Nettleship, Andy Winn, Emily DearHeart, Jeffry Haas, the late David Parvin, Lauren Sherer, Hannah and Allen Maddox, Rebekah Thomas, KT Strange, Ari Loeb, Ryland Vallely, Mickaela McNatt, Krissy Leonard, and Laura Shaw.
I appreciate all of you for our relationship, collaborations, life-changing conversations, challenges, and your unwavering faith in me and my capabilities over the years.
