We had the good fortune of connecting with Joseph Prichard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m the Creative Director and a Founding Partner at Kilter, a design and branding studio focused on elevating organizations with a positive social impact. Our clients range from plant-based food entrepreneurs to national nonprofits and everything in between. Our team pride ourselves on creating work whose significance is both meaningful and measurable.

In addition to the types of clients we serve, one of the things that sets us apart from other studios is our collaborative approach. At Kilter strategy, messaging, and design are handled by a single unified team ensuring that the work we create remains beautiful, smart, and purposeful across every touch point.

Since our founding in 2017, we’ve been lucky to work with scores of clients in a wide range of industries. We’ve weathered growing pains, and the disruptions of the pandemic to emerge stronger and more energized for what the future holds.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite LA spots include….

Vidiots — https://vidiotsfoundation.org/

This nonprofit video store slash movie theater is a must visit for all film lovers

Bulan Thai Vegetarian Kitchen — https://www.bulanthaikitchen.com/

Hands down the best vegetarian Thai food in Los Angeles

HMS Bounty — http://www.thehmsbounty.com/
The Bounty is one of those places in LA where if you squint hard you can still imagine it’s the 40s and you’re living in a film noir feature. Tucked away on the ground floor of the Gaylord Apartment building on Wilshire Blvd this bar is a hidden gem.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have two folks I’d like to call attention to…

Marie Massa
Marie is a landscaper designer/activist who is spearheading an effort to establish a, first-of-its-kind, California Native Plant Corridor in the low-income North East LA neighborhood of Lincoln Heights.

You can read about her efforts here… https://www.theeastsiderla.com/neighborhoods/lincoln_heights/can-volunteers-improve-this-freeway-wall-with-a-corridor-of-native-plants/article_cde68aa0-59cc-11ee-b59a-73ff00dd85fe.html

Gandhar Vamburkar
Is a graphic designer whose recently completed graduate thesis project focused on looking at digital media through the lens of traditional Indian storytelling.
