We had the good fortune of connecting with Joseph Wetherspoon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joseph, how do you think about risk?
I believe to see what you are truly made of, is judged by how much you believe in yourself. Life is all about taking risks or else you will settle for anything. Taking risks impact me with proving to myself time after time that I can do what ever I put my mind to. I grew up in a environment of people who didn’t believe in their dreams enough to turn them into reality. I feel that listing excuses to why I’m unable to do something would be dumbing down the belief I have in myself. I watch my adopted mother, my parents and other people around me struggle, and I wanted a different outcome for myself and the family that I built. I look back with appreciation to myself for the risks that I’ve took because I probably would have never pursued modeling or explore other avenues if I hadn’t taken those risks.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art consists of using what I truly enjoy doing to help motivate and inspire people. I strongly believe that what ever we put our minds to we can bring to reality. Being a male model has helped me become more aware of myself in areas I couldn’t imagine needing to strengthen in. It definitely shaped and given me a backbone that allows me to further climb the ladder of success and keeps me on my toes with curve balls getting thrown in from time to time. It was challenging at first because everything was new and unfamiliar but with belief, I was able to adjust. It granted me the opportunity to rub elbows amongst likeminded individuals that already been and gone through what I aspire to become. My passion for fitness stems from how it got me through depression. For me, it was the elevator that I always looked to get on to levitate my mental and physical health. I watched my adopted mother and parent’s poor eating and lifestyle habits catch up to them. Witnessing disease outcomes and having to take medication daily, I didn’t want those habits to be my end goal reality, nor past down to my daughter. What sets me apart from other brands is my drive and resilience to finding more straightforward ways to help motivate people with modeling and fitness. Being coachable, staying in a student like mind frame and always on the go to do research made a huge impact on me today. I would like the world to understand that my brand is all about empowering oneself. You are the CEO for your life, nobody can do that for you!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Grab a bite first! We would head to this african restaurant in Inglewood called “ADUKE NIGERIAN CUISINE”. They have this stew called “Egusi” that I would be dying to have my friend try out. Next we would go hiking through Runyon Canyon overlooking the nature of California and overseeing the views of LA. Then we can head over to Newport Beach, rent some bikes for an hour and cruise along the trail watching the sunset. The next day, we can spend in Hollywood. I love how much attractions it offers especially on Hollywoods Walk of Fame. The wax museum would be on the top of my list, and do some souvenir shopping! Later, we grab a bite at Cabo Wabo Cantina. Wednesday, we can head over to this restaurant called “JOEY DTLA” I recommend having their flavorful Hibachi Wings along with their signature cocktail “The Real Peach Bellini”. Later can head over to Beverly Hills and explore some historical places. Later we can grab another bite at this restaurant nearby called “MOMOTA RAMEN HOUSE”. I love their flavorful shrimp tempura sushi roll. Thursday we can visit this salad bar called “SIMPLY SALAD” where they give you unlimited options of how you can build your salad. Later we can head over to Echo Park to visit some historical places and later that night get ready for the nightlife experience LA has to offer with spacious club venues. Unlimited vibes. A nightclub I recommend would be “BALLET”. It definitely highlights the west coast experience. Friday, we would head over to Santa Monica Pier and explore the attractions for a bit, grab a bite at one of the stands and head over to Venice beach to plop ourselves into the sand and reflect on everything we did for the week ending with mediation, and relaxation.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My support system is who I would like to give thanks with helping me along my journey. It’s always the best to surround yourself around people who genuinely has your best interest, and aren’t afraid to tell you about yourself and how it is without any judgement or jealousy. Also, I would like to thank my daughter for being the engine to my drive.
