We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Mannila and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal is to end up shooting magazine covers, fashion, and editorial photography, as well as working with celebrities on a regular basis. When I was younger it was my dream to shoot for Vogue. I have been working every single day to one day achieve that goal. I also want my photography to allow me to travel the world. Currently, I am 19 years old, living in Oregon, but I am moving to California soon to pursue my photography career!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have wanted to be a photographer for as long as I can remember. I started my photography career when I was a freshman in high school, taking senior photos for my peers. This was well received by my community because I am close in age with many of my clients. Because of this, People have told me they feel comfortable shooting with me. As momentum built, I started traveling to Los Angeles for photoshoots with influencers and creators. I am still a teenager at the beginning of my career and have shot some album covers and done photoshoots for clothing brands. I have done over 1000 photoshoots in my career so far and am ready for many more to come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love visiting more of the touristy spots, such as Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood Sign. I also enjoy the beaches, such as El Matador Beach or Zuma Beach in Malibu! I also enjoy eating at Urth Caffe, especially the West Hollywood location. Another great place to eat is Crimson in Santa Monica, for fantastic Mediterranean food.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my friends because they allow me to photograph them with my various photoshoot ideas. I know that if I have a creative idea I can always count on one of my friends to help execute it.
