We had the good fortune of connecting with K. Marbury and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi K., we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I think risk can be beneficial. I know everyone has fears and doubts, but how could you ever see what you are fully capable of if you don’t take any risk. I’m going to tell you a brief story about a trip to Thailand. On one particular day, a friend of mine wanted to go parasailing; I was against this idea because I am terrified of heights. She was not taking any excuses I was giving. So, I had to get on board. As I was getting strapped into the harness, she saw the fear on my face and began to speak nothing more than words of encouragement. That once fear turned into enthusiasm, and moments later, I was gliding through the enchanting air over the beautiful waters of Phuket. I couldn’t believe it, but I was happy I went parasailing. That day I gained a experience and more self-confidence. Life is about taking risks, and you should live it to the fullest.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am K. Marbury, the owner of The Kuirky Baker. I am a self-taught home baker, and I have a fondness for the classic desserts but with a unique twist. When purchasing ingredients, I go for fresh and locally from the farmers market. I like trying new recipes with different herbs, spices, extracts, and or fruits. Therefore, I couldn’t be more proud of my willingness to try.
Now, starting a business comes with its challenges, and like many others, I put in the hard work, determination, countless hours, and patience. I also found that it is indispensable to be resilient because you will have plenty of ups and downs, but it’s during these times you learn the most. I learned how to manage my time, value my time, and it’s ok to fail. Furthermore, I am doing what I love, and I bake every treat with my heart and soul.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my family and friends. They have taught me the value of good work ethics, a respectable reputation, and being a woman of my word. Whenever faced with difficult times, I can rely on their love and support to always lift my spirit. I am genuinely grateful for every one of them.
