We had the good fortune of connecting with Joss Richard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joss, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
At 12 years old I joined a Julie Andrews Online Forum and was fangirling with other people around the world before social media was even really a thing. By 14, I was editing Three’s Company fan videos on Windows Movie Maker and posting them to YouTube . I’ve always been passionate about pop culture, film, and television, and combined with my love for creating content, I naturally went into producing.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I’ve spent the past 10+ years producing entertainment content for networks, TV shows, and award shows and thought, ‘why don’t I create something for myself with my experience?’ It’s the most niche thing, but Three’s Company is my favorite television show; it’s honestly more than a show to me. When I found out that there were other people around the world who felt the same way, I knew there was an audience for this and that was my chance to use everything I’ve learned and create something meaningful. The podcast is something I can look back on in years to come and be proud of.

I still have a full-time job and none of this is easy, but the payoff is worth it. When you’re passionate about something, you find the time in your day to make it happen. Being able to enlighten new people about a show that’s over 40 years-old is incredibly special. In a way, it’s making sure that classic sitcoms don’t die.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I’m past the point of showing people the typical tourist spots – Hollywood Boulevard, Santa Monica Pier, Griffith Observatory. I think the best way to discover a new area is to pretend you live there. Coffee shops and local restaurants are always my go-to. I love areas like Highland Park, Los Feliz, Pasadena, and Eagle Rock; there are so many cute shops and places to eat around there.

I would also 100% recommend taking the time to explore outside of LA – there are incredible areas less than two hours away! Cambria, Joshua Tree, Big Bear, the possibilities are endless!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this to all the fangirls out there who are passionate about a certain film, television show, or even ship and don’t know what to do with that love. The internet can be a terrifying place, but there’s so much community and empowerment in it. Coming together to celebrate something we all love is so special!
