We had the good fortune of connecting with Juan Paredes Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I first started EverydaySuede I truly just wanted a pair of shoes that would stand out, be colorful etc, for myself. That started my search for a yellow suede shoe and I could barely find them, so than I created the Bumblebee Oxford. After that it led me down a journey to were I am now. I had to create different colors etc. and next thing I knew I had a whole shoe line, different styles, colors, everything. Whatever you want to do just make sure its something you truly do like or care about.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I strive in being myself and truly feeling comfortable in my own skin. I feel this has led me to where i am now. Ive never had a problem wearing colorful clothes that stand out, this helps me when creating new products or touching the older ones, Im not scared to throw some color in any outfit.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well anytime any of my friends come to town, I feel obligated to show them the abundance of vegan food that is around. From Sage pizza in Echo Park to one of the best food trucks that travels (Lettuce Feast). I love hike and nature so like to bring people to the wisdom tree trail where you can really see all parts of La. Than on the creative let me get away days, I typically end up in Malibu by the water.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would say the way my shoe was embraced in the vegan community really made me feel like I was doing something positive. This made me want to finish and get the shoe line to the world .
