Meet Judah | Studio Owner, Producer and Engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Judah and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Judah, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from Washington D.C. Being from such a rich entrepreneur minded city that inspired me to start my own studio at 20 years old. My upbringing was influenced by all the go go and fashion culture that was around me when I was a teen. D.C. had its own unique culture, fashion, slang, music (go go) and identity. All those things made me who I am today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a producer, its my job to creative a sonic backdrop for artist and as a studio owner it’s my job to facilitate the union of my music with the artist lyrics. I don’t know what sets me apart from other because I don’t worry about what others are doing but one thing i’ve heard about me from artist is that I’m consistent. I’m creatively consistent and professionally consistent. My business acumen is on point and i’m fair. I got where I am today by being consistent, pacing myself and being selective of the music I’m apart of and the artist I choose to work with. I also invest in my business on an annual basis. It wasn’t easy initially but it has gotten easier over the years. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned over the years is to communicate, communicate, communicate. Over communicate. Be transparent! People that pay you money respect that especially if it has some validity to it. I want the world to know I’m one of the best to do it from DC, MD and Va. Hands down!!!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to get some wings and mumbo sauce from a carry out. I would also take them to a go go so they could experience that in real-time. There is nothing like it on his planet. lol
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout the entire creative community in DC, MD and Va. That creative community has used my studio for 20+ years and I am grateful for that. Their belief in me as a producer and a place where they feel comfortable creating has changed my life. Studios come and go and we have been here for 20 + years.
