We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Broglie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julia, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind any entrepreneur’s success is their health. It’s no secret that some of the most successful founders & CEOs have wellness habits to help them prioritize their mental & physical health including mindfulness, sleep, nutrition, fitness, etc. I always like to remind myself that I am my company’s greatest asset, and I should treat myself like such. My company’s mission is to encourage people to take care of their mental health, so it is important to practice what I preach!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
BroglieBox is mental wellness, delivered. We create care packages and kits with products, tools, and resources to support the recipient’s mental health. Our boxes help encourage recipients to utilize mindfulness, gratitude, relaxation, nutrition, fitness, and sleep to boost their overall mental wellbeing. We also have 5 editions of our own magazine which features timely and useful articles, self-help guides, and visual tools from our expert network of over 30 mental health professionals.
BroglieBox was created after losing my brother Justin to suicide. After struggling with my own mental health challenges, I began to look for resources to help myself & my loved ones. I realized there were two big hurdles when it came to mental health support:
1. it is super time-consuming and overwhelming to find tools and resources
2. due to stigma, this topic is often unapproachable
This is why BroglieBox was born: a new way to deliver support and connection in today’s hectic, fast-paced and often impersonal world. Each of our boxes & kits feels like a gift when opened, but the items inside are effective and useful to the recipient.
Since our inception in November of 2018, we have sent thousands of boxes & kits. Within the last year, we have been able to help hundreds of companies & organizations send boxes to their employees and teams across the entire nation.
Starting a business is never easy, and there was a huge learning curve for me since I had very limited business experience. However, starting my own business has taught me that I can be extremely resourceful and figure out how to tackle seemingly impossible tasks.
I surround myself with other incredible founders who have paved the way and been kind enough to share resources & business tools. I also joined an incredible accelerator program here in LA called Grid110 which not only gave me a community of other founders, but it also provided solid and trustworthy mentors.
Our goal is that every single person who interacts with BroglieBox (whether that’s through one of our boxes or our free resources on our website) feels empowered in their health, feels less alone, and knows that it is possible to find inner peace.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The best part of visiting LA is that there is so much to do! I live in Burbank, but I like to venture all over the city. We could grab coffee at one of my favorite coffee shops in Burbank – Priscillas or Romancing the Bean. I would definitely take my guest hiking in Malibu and then to the beach (El Matador is one of my favorite beaches). Another day, we could have a picnic at Balboa Lake park. We could go biking along the strand, from Marina del Rey to Manhattan Beach. We would go to dinner for sunset at Castaways restaurant (gorgeous views!). Pre-pandemic, I loved to go to concerts and art exhibits so hopefully, those will start up again soon! If we had time to drive up to Big Bear, I would definitely take them there – it’s so beautiful. And of course, we would get tacos from Pablitos!
Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc. that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
The list of people who have helped me along the way is immense! I’d like to especially give a shout out to my co-founder (and fiance!) Dustin Belt and my parents for their constant encouragement and support.
