Meet Julie Perlmutter Audrey Bromstad | Co-Founders of Figue & Co.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Julie Perlmutter and Audrey Bromstad and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julie and Audrey, what do you attribute your success to?
Adapting to the market, while staying true to your brand! When you launch your own business, you think of a thousand different ways to sell a product, a hundred different business models, and find a reason that everyone on the planet will want to be your customer. If the last two years have taught us anything, it should be that flexibility and fluidity in business is key. Go where the market takes you, and be a brand that others want to work with. Treat people with respect and be kind. You can get a lot more done when people want to work with you instead of against you.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our background is in producing some of the largest events in the entertainment industry for clients including Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Universal, Lionsgate and Sony to name a few. We stepped back from the world that we knew to found Figue; a full service agency specializing in more than just event production. Our focus is on creating highly curated, thoughtful experiences for our clients, working with the best designers, fabricators and artists across the country to bring our clients visions to life.
Was it easy? Is it ever really easy? We started a company with no clients, no business and a calendar that seemed open everyday. But, it was a total clean slate. We had complete freedom and control over the business we wanted to build and the kind of clients we wanted to work with. Since founding Figue, we’ve poured our energy into building new relationships with companies, introducing ourselves and chatting with business owners to build a clientele and calendar that excites us.
One of the biggest lessons that we’ve learned along the way, is that when you’re working on projects that excite you, and collaborating with an incredible team and other creatives, nothing feels impossible. Which is great, because in events, “impossible” just isn’t allowed in your vocabulary! You are constantly pushing the boundaries each day and you walk away from a job more proud then you can even imagine.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
What a fun question! I mean this is basically the best excuse to partake in an eating tour of your own city, hit all of your favorite spots, and show your friends the things you love most about LA. For us it would be all about breakfast at honey hi, destroyer, go get em tiger or gjusta. Lunch at Tere’s, Erewhon, La Scala or Doc Sandwich, and dinner at Gran Blanco, Pizzeria Mozza, Damian, All Time or Pine + Crane. There’s a ton more we could name, but we have to pump the breaks somewhere.
Maybe we’d hit a hike anywhere from Hollywood to Malibu? You can’t go wrong.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Who doesn’t deserve credit and recognition for our story?!! We have been surrounded by the most supportive group of friends and family that have cheered us on from the beginning, when Figue was only just an idea. But there are so many different forms of support, it’s almost impossible to give a single shoutout to one person. Every little thing adds to where we are now – the likes/shares/comments on our social media, the people booking us for their events, the business advice from our family, and the friends who celebrate not just the big milestones, but everything in between. We feel so lucky to be where we, and are constantly in awe of the support around us.
