Meet Julius Eulberg | an alchemist’s view on life

We had the good fortune of connecting with Julius Eulberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julius, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
For me work and life is no different. I love what I do -so it really is a flow. from space. to time and vice versa. Sometimes I am so excited for the next time in anticipation of a new lab samples to test a new product or ingredients that I can hardly fall asleep, I think this is like a child when christmas is coming. Its my natural state. 🙂
I am so sorry for the many people that only work for the $. What joy is that? Giving oneself to your work fully, is actually becoming your work, for me the ultimate satisfaction. Of course there are “issues” along the. path that are not easy and rather challenging but if you are on your path you understand, accept and solve the issues with grace and determination.
My balance never changed, I do (kundalini) yoga, I go hiking, I. observe the sky the cloud movements; being in nature truly is the strongest recharger and helps you to get back into perfect balance, a real flow. But bottom line: you have to love what you do.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Beauty was always a focus in my life inspired by my mother. Beauty in art, fashion, nature and in soul of course.
I started out in fashion design and moved later on into the beauty business. I founded Julisis in 2002. My goal was from the start to have ecologically sound packaging, highly efficient formulas without any chemicals. (“Put only on your skin, what you would put in your mouth”) Luxury not designed by marketing but by the result of the medicinal healing plants with highly complex production processes in the alchemy fashion. Fermentation techniques for example for better absorption and more efficient skin digestion. Julisis was the first high end, organic skincare working with your natural biorhythm.
The start was hard, two products only, for seven years I did not make any money, Now we have 28 products and sell in over 15 countries, we work with Harrods London, some Four Seasons Hotel SPAs, the world leading medical clinic, Lanserhof and and and. For me to this day the highest reward is to see a skin of a client transform from bad skin to radiant, clear skin. This keeps me going and not a day i regret my calling. All for beauty! Inside out.
As an intense collector I started collecting vintage jewelry (love it because it has so much more character then new stuff) ten years ago, often people asked me on the streets where to get this and that – now I am also selling vintage, real jewelry via @jules_eye and two stores in Europe.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to Soho House Malibu- a quick referesher at Erewhon from time to time. For food: A dinner at Elephante in Santa Monica or my favorite Chinese In Beverly Hills for duck and dim sum, Joss Bites. For Japanese Sushi etc. Matsuhisa on La Cienega or exquisite Italian at Palmeri in. Brentwood or E Baldi in Beverly Hills. For Burger I go to HiHO in Santa Monica.
for a vegetarian meal I would go to Venice’s Cafe Gratitude.
For culture: I would go to the Getty Museum in Malibu and the big Getty Center as well as the LACMA and the Broad downtown. Huntington Gardens in Pasadena are magnificent, culturally and a full nature experience.
For nature: walk on the beach in Santa Monica or Malibu, Hike Will Rogers National Park
For high tea: I would go to the Peninsula in Beverly Hills, also for a cocktail at their amazing bar.
For shopping: I would drive to Newport Beach, Amarees, the best of the best in a relaxed but stylish environment. Owned by wonderful sisters- it’s a family affair! in Hollywood I would go to Just One Eye, despite the “slightly” neurotic owner with a great taste. The mix of fashion, art and design is truly a unique experience. Mohawk in Silverlake and of course flea markets like the rose bowl or Long Beach Flea. For the weekends in winter I would take them on a trip to Palm Springs for midcentury vintage shopping and the flavor of the dessert.
For the ultimate SPA experience: We Care Spa in Dessert Hot Springs, just. 20 min outside Palm Springs, another magical place and family affair, known for their colonics, detox and buddha vibe infused atmosphere. Be prepared to meet “celeb-prettys” if you can get in. Book ahead and pray.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
without our past we would not be who we are here now- there are these earth angels who see us in a different light, for me it was a school teacher who promoted me, then later a store owner who believed in me, the hardest practicum ever, working day and night. this is where i learned about discipline and doing things with full on dedication and love.
growing up catholic it never showed me the god I believed in. from early on I questioned a god that punishes and a god that needs to be feared. I believed god is all about love and compassion. then in 1995 I was introduced to siddha yoga, a philosophy going way back before religion, where it is understood that god lives within you, That totally resonated with me and the current Guru, Gurumayi and her teachings are most wonderful. Nothing is perfect though. We strive for. perfection, until we realize that is an illusion, it is more the intention that counts.
And of course friends who go with you no matter how rough your path. True friends where you can be wrong and crazy and they connect with your heart.
