We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin Magallanez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Justin, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success has been keeping the same core values and mission statement by keeping my faith and family first. As well in my mission statement on keeping things Simple, Easy, and Effective.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my career at a really young age in order to provide for a family not knowing at the time this “job” would more importantly turn into a career. The word “hustle” was already being created by finding ways to promote myself and the local gym was working at. My oldest son was 5 years at the time when he came up with the phrase “Dad you’re creating monsters,” so right then and there I knew I had a catch phrase or somewhat a idea that I am creating monsters and I’m loving it. So a week later I founded the name “CREATIN’ MONSTERS.”
15 years later the inspiration/brand is now globally well known throughout the country and more importantly internationally in China, Spain, Canada, Austria, and London.
This task wasn’t easy to accomplish because at first I didn’t know how to market myself, social media wasn’t available or wasn’t as advanced it is now. The term word of mouth was a huge tool in my tool box and it still a big impact towards my business. The most challenging part of my career in the beginning has been being able to ask for money or feeling comfortable selling yourself as to why parents should invest in you to helping their child improve their game and extending their careers from high school to college and then potentially reaching the professional level.
In doing so I am able to teach and share young coaches and trainers my experiences and stories that might relate to them and literally getting used to the word “NO” and how to overcome those obstacles in order to have a long career like myself including opening up a facility with all the trials and errors
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Glendora so there’s a lot of fun places to visit and more importantly great food spots in Southern California. I’m a big Disneyland guy because of my kids so have to hit that spot. Then of course take them to my facility to showcase my pride and joy on where I work and what I do. To carry on the fitness track I would take my best friend to my favorite sand hill in Malibu to get one workout there.
Now onto food spots. I’m a huge street taco guy but I am a huge foodie so I literally try something new I see on social media every Friday and have been doing this for 2 years now.
Taco spots : Evil Cooks in Downtown LA
Carlos TJ Tacos in Whittier Ca.
BBQ: Smoke and Fire Grill in Pomona, andPasadena
Pizza Spots: Luigi’s Pizzeria in San Diego Ca. But to keep it local Warehouse Pizza in La Verne Ca. and Tony Little Italy for Chicago Style pizza. Lastly Pizzeria Bianco in Downtown LA
Yes I’m a huge foodie
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wanna first give credit to my Lord and Savior for allowing me to find my calling and be a impact in many individuals to develop and be a part of their careers as they help me develop mine. I also wanna give credit to my loved ones who effortlessly support me throughout ups and downs that continue to love me day in and day out. Next I wanna shoutout to my Agency at PO 3 Agency Jessica Campbell and Addyson Block for believing in me and giving me a opportunity to grow my brand and career globally. Lastly I want to shoutout my 2 boys Damien and Jace Koa who give me the strength, drive, courage, and more importantly the will to be the best dad I can be to them and for giving me the strength to work day in and out in order to provide for them and give them a opportunity to be successful themselves so they can see that through hard work they can do anything
