We had the good fortune of connecting with Kao Wonder and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kao, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To be honest, I got tired of doors being slammed in my face! Lol they say in life when one door closes another door opens, or, you can buy tools and build your own doors and set your own rules. Yes it is a lot of work, and I will repeat, ALOT of work, but to go to sleep at night knowing that my investments will work one day … priceless!! So when I wake up , I repeat the narrative, grab my tools, and continue to build!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Im a Performing Artist. I sing, I dance, I write, and I speak from an honest part of the heart. My creative brand focuses on uplifting and inspiring others thru self confidence and increase human value, in a current world where social comparison is at its peak via social media, and self worth is decreasing dude to societal demands (I.e. hyper masculinity, body shaming, gender norms, etc). It wasn’t easy getting to where I am now, it took a lot of soul searching, hitting many rock bottoms, and learning thru many mistakes for me to get to the right track upward. As an Entertainer, it’s so easy for us to get caught up in artistic expression and creating that we sometimes forget the business side of this Business, which is why I created The 3rd Services to help my fellow other independent Artists/Creatives with their own brand development and artistic ideas and guide them in a great light for maximum exposure and longevity in this business. Los Angeles is a bit of a battlefield, and with all good you have to take some bad. There have been many people who have help/guided me, and then, there have been people out here who have try to lead me in darkness, cheat me out of funds, steal my ideas as their own, I mean you name it, Ive experienced it in my 8 years of living out here. Would I change it? Absolutely not! You have to trust your process in this journey. Furthermore, as I continue to build my own foundation, I want to use those helpful experiences I have gotten to help someone else so that they are prepared for all the bad and cast away all there sharks. This is why I created The 3rd Services, so professionally engage and inspire.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Haha this is a funny question: I think it all depends on what “fun” is considered. What I love most about Los Angeles is that there is literally something for EVERYONE to do! If you want to hike, go to the canyons. If you want to tour, you can always visit Hollywood and Studio City (Love Studio City). Me personally, I love a safe space; a space where you can go and let your hair down, drink as much as you want, and not be judged. This is why I love West Hollywood, not only because its where most of my LGTBQ affiliates hang and fester, but, it a place where we can all be who we want to be. Someone let the Cat out the Bag though because now there are more heterosexual folks that inhabit this place meant for us, but you know what, its ok!!! So (when the world opens ), WEHO (the nickname) is the spot togo! Mickeys and Trunks is my personal favorite because I dont mind sparing a penny or two. DTLA is really cool for rooftop parties/bars because of all the tall buildings. North Hollywood is exciting for me because its where you will see a lot of your fellow Creatives hang out and habit-ate (Lol). I love hiking at Griffith Park because its close to the Hollywood sign.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shout out first of all to everyone out there figuring out their individual ways to make this world we living in a better place. I would also like to thank everyone on my team who isn’t afraid to guide me into the right light, regardless if I kick or scream (which happens a lot haha ). This Shout out is for you!
