We had the good fortune of connecting with Kariji Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kariji, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my business as a music producer was influenced by my deep-rooted love for music and a clear understanding of my unique skill set. As a music producer, my role is to shape and guide the music to its fullest potential, and that’s a responsibility I take very seriously.
I had spent many years immersing myself in a multitude of musical genres, experimenting with various sounds, and honing my production techniques. Over time, I realized that my ability to seamlessly blend different styles and create unique sounds was a significant strength. The richness and variety of my musical experiences had endowed me with a distinct sonic fingerprint.
Additionally, my exposure to various facets of music production, from the technical aspects of sound engineering to the creative side of composition and arrangement, gave me an in-depth understanding of what constitutes a quality sound. I knew I could leverage this experience to create music that not only resonates with a diverse audience but also meets high professional standards.
Furthermore, I was driven by the urge to push the boundaries of what’s possible in music. I realized that to truly innovate and create music that’s personal and unique, I needed the freedom and autonomy that comes with owning my own production business. I yearned to create a space where I could freely experiment, innovate, and produce music without any constraints.
Finally, I was motivated by the potential impact I could make on artists’ careers. As a music producer, I have the ability to nurture talents, guide artists towards realizing their full potential, and help them bring their musical vision to life. I was excited about the prospect of discovering new talents and working closely with them to create exceptional music.
All these factors culminated in the decision to start my own music production business. It was a journey driven by my passion for music, the belief in my unique abilities, and the desire to carve out a space where I could create, innovate, and make a meaningful contribution to the music industry.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a professional music producer, I believe that what makes me unique is my ability to create sounds that connect with many genres of music. My past experiences have allowed me to hear what a quality sound is and because of that, I make it my priority to implement that into my music.
I am a natural-born musician. I started out as a drummer. When I turned 16 I started playing keyboards and making beats. I grew up in the church.
Growing up in an area like Browntown where there was a lot of lack and despair, I did experience moments of hopelessness. But because my parents raised me in the church it helped shaped me into the man that I am today . Being a believer has shown me that anything is possible with God and that I can overcome anything!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came in town for a week we would stay in at the Westin Hotel because the view is amazing! The sundial restaurant is pretty good I must say at top of The Westin! Tuesday we would go to the trap museum. Go see the MLK Center. Make our way to grab food at The Varsity. Wednesday we’ll start at the Aquarium, then take a scroll to Phillip Plaza. Lunch time at Nobu. Watch a movie at Saks Fifth and do some retail therapy. Thursday we’ll start at Jeju Spa then we’ll head to South Atlanta and stop at The Atlanta Fish House & Grill. Take a tour at Tyler Perry Studios. Friday we’ll cruise the beltline. Saturday we’ll go to White Water & Six Flags. Sundays is for church.
