Meet KARMA | Producer – Vocalist – DJ

We had the good fortune of connecting with KARMA and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi KARMA, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Music saved me when my life seemed uncertain and without purpose. It became my anchor in stormy seas, a light at the end of the tunnel if you will. It’s not just a career choice; it’s my duty to share the magic that pulls my life forward. Each composition I create is a tribute to the lifeline that music threw my way, a way of saying thank you. Recognizing the transformative power of music and the community that creates it, I vowed to become a curator of musical magic for the rest of my life, returning to the passion that lead me to begin composing at the early age of 12. With every composition I am practicing the art of alchemy thru sound.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart is an unwavering commitment to innovation and a passion for turning challenges into opportunities.
I’m most proud of navigating uncharted professional territories, following dreams that everyone warned me not to. I am fueled by a relentless pursuit of artistic expression. I do what I do today for the 10 year old version of me, who’s only escape was into a colorful world of sound. I do what I do for the 12 year old version of me, writing music for piano by hand on sheets of paper, dreaming inside my head that one day I’d control every element within an orchestra and each instrument within a song.
Art is about pushing boundaries, embracing change, and disolving the lines between what “should” and “shouldn’t” be done. The story behind my music and live performances is constantly evolving and expanding into an immersive universe of visual and auditory art.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are several spots within Los Angeles that I’d love to revisit and play pretend “tourist” once again with a visiting friend…
I love Historic Downtown LA, angel’s flight is a wonderful piece of history that’s been preserved. Santa Monica is a must see… picnics at sunset as the pier’s lights begin to light up the dark is a really lovely moment to share. The Los Angeles forest is a wonderful spot to explore and camp for a night. S’more’s and a glass of wine are a must for me.
As far as nightlife is concerned, downtown is the place to be. If I had a friend visiting, I’d love to show them a night out jumping from one underground event to the next, experiencing different genres of electronic music that they may have never heard before. Parties downtown go until sunrise and sometimes hours beyond that. Afterwards I’d take them for brunch at Brazil Kiss.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a big thanks to my mentors and teachers. They truly helped me stay inspired throughout the early stages of this musical adventure I am currently on. Point Blank Music School helped me reconnect with the original spark I had for music over a decade before I began classes there. My musical training from previous years came flooding back and my self doubt was left behind… for that I will be forever grateful.
To my professional mentors; you’re the architects of my career. From our coffee chats to studio time, and everything in between, your insights have been the building blocks of my confidence and creative expansion. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
