We had the good fortune of connecting with Mickey Kravitz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mickey, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Well I have always been a musician, I was in glam rock band HARLOW since I was a kid and I’m sure you know hair is a big part of being in a glam band. Most of my life people have come up to me and ask “what band are you in” but in 2012 I was kind of at a cross road and looking for something new to do and out of the blue people started asking me “are you a musician or hair dresser” and that was happening 2 or 3 times a day. I had always used lots of hair products, always had to combine things to get what I wanted so I decided to just start my own hair product line. I found a manufacturer and we started to develop my product line. When I start a venture whether it’s music, a restaurant, radio or my hair product line I first have to have the passion to do it and believe in the idea. I don’t want to know the ins and outs of whatever it is, I like to go in blind so my passion and drive will not be compromised in any negative way. I learn on the job and overcome things as they come, my drive and passion for my idea is all I need. I will figure out everything else.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
MAK Hair Products from Mickey Alan Kravitz is my life, I love the creative part of product development, label design etc. When I start a venture I have to go in blind with no negativity that way my excitement will drive my passion. I still get very happy when I get an email or a positive review, that makes me happy. I built MAK Hair Products one person at a time, word of mouth, and hours of hours of marketing. I have hair growth support vitamin shampoo & condition with nature DHT blockers to help stop hair loss, hair styling products, all products are Non-Comedogenic. We preform NO ANIMAL TESTS. Our products are proudly made here in the USA.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A couple nights we would hit a few rock clubs in Hollywood Troubadour, Whisky or Roxy depending who’s is playing and end the night with a late dinner at the Rainbow, I would defiantly do at least one day at the Playboy jazz festival at the Hollywood bowl, box seats front row. One night would be dinner and rinks at Perch down town LA. next day Paradise cove in Malibu for a day at the beach drinks and lunch Then I would get a hotel in Temecula for a couple days of wine drinking.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom she always told me I can be anything I want in life as long as I work hard at it
