We had the good fortune of connecting with Kasey Dunn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kasey, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised in a small Kentucky town – my upbringing established the roots that keep me grounded to this day. One of the first values I learned was , “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” As a Social Media/Brand Manager, it is critical to be empathetic toward my clients and respectful of their needs and wants. It’s crazy to look back on your childhood and realize the impact it has on your growth as a human being. I am very fortunate to have had individuals in my life who have shown me love, acceptance, hard work , ethics, and honesty.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I grew up in a small town in Kentucky, which created a strong foundation for me because it keeps me grounded.  After graduating from highschool I attended college for 4 years in Cincinnati, Ohio. When I graduated with a Business degree, specialising in Sports Management, I didn’t know the direction I wanted to take. I interned with the Cincinnati Bengals & Reds but I felt that I had a bigger purpose that needed to be explored. When I was in college, I had a manager for fitness modeling who soon convinced me to become an actress.

At the age of 21 and four months following graduation, I packed my Jeep & headed west to Los Angeles.  I was very lucky to previously have hired an agent & the opportunity presented itself to start this journey. When I landed in LA – I knew no one. Clean slate. My acting coach at the time helped me find a job at Mastro’s Steakhouse in Beverly Hills.

While working there I met co-workers and customers who have become lifelong friends as well as future business partners. Thankfully in my short time acting/modeling, I landed numerous commercial roles & a couple of short films which helped broaden my knowledge of the entertainment industry.
While working at Mastro’s I met a customer who was an executive with a well known financial company.  He was in the process of interviewing  candidates for a Business Development Manager position.

At the time, I was barely making ends meet. When it came to my own financial well being I knew I had to make some changes. I interviewed and accepted his offer for the position and started my career in the world of finance. This became a gateway to my next position with a boutique financial firm which helped athletes manage their wealth. This was the best of both worlds for me since Sports has always been a love of mine. This company helped shape me into an individual that could conquer the world of business, relationships & ownership. I started with them as a Client Service Associate & over time transitioned into a Marketing Coordinator/Social Media Manager.

I learned the fundamentals of branding, content strategy, content planning, tracking analytics along with enhancing my skills in client relations. After working with them for three years, I was presented with an opportunity to become a Senior Social Media Manager for a PR agency.  I also am contracting with several additional companies in helping them grow their respective brands through their social media platforms.  Product lines include  beverage, talent, beauty/wellness and the entertainment industry.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
