Meet Kate Obert | Stylist + Brand Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kate Obert and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kate, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business because I wanted to make money being myself and live life on my own terms. I didn’t want to be restricted by someone else’s schedule or have only two weeks of PTO a year. I wanted to fully utilize my brain and help others with my unique skills.
Working at Michael Kors, I suggested various ideas to drive sales, like experiential events, but was always met with resistance due to rigid policies. I wanted to be creative and implement ideas without dealing with red tape. Starting my own business gave me full creative control, allowing me to create impactful experiences and continuously grow and evolve. It felt natural to help people with what I knew and create a path that truly resonated with me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work revolves around transforming personal branding and style into powerful tools for professional success and personal fulfillment. What sets me apart is my unique ability to marry fashion and branding, creating cohesive and dynamic personal brands that authentically reflect my clients’ identities. I’m most proud of helping clients discover their true selves and translating that into a visual and strategic identity that resonates deeply with their audience.
Getting to where I am today was far from easy. Starting out, I didn’t have a clear plan, just a passion for fashion and a knack for understanding people. The biggest challenge was navigating the business world without prior experience. I overcame this by seeking mentorship, reading extensively, and learning from every misstep. One pivotal resource was the book Traction, which provided a structured approach to building my business.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way include the importance of authenticity, resilience, and continuous learning. Authenticity is at the heart of my brand; it’s what makes each client feel confident and magnetic. Resilience is crucial in overcoming setbacks and staying focused on my vision. Continuous learning ensures I stay ahead in my field and deliver the best to my clients.
What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that it’s all about empowering individuals to embrace their unique style and vibe. My mission is to help clients align their external presentation with their internal essence, fostering confidence and authenticity in everything they do. My journey has been one of discovery, growth, and dedication to helping others shine.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Running a business is no small feat, especially when balancing it with raising two toddlers. My husband deserves the biggest shoutout for being the most supportive partner. With our two children, ages 2 and 4, at home full-time, his help is invaluable. He’s always there to help me find the time, often taking time off work to give me relief and dedicated work hours. His patience and unwavering support as I grow my business to support our family are beyond measure. He believes in me wholeheartedly, and I’m blessed to have such a supportive partner.
We are partners in life and have a lot of fun together. We love spending time both at home and exploring new experiences. We also enjoy going to raves and sharing our love for electronic music. These experiences affect my energy and how I show up in my business. He knows how to plan experiences that keep my creativity and energy high, making him an indispensable part of my journey. Beyond that, his expertise in marketing and psychology offers great ideas and invaluable help for my business.
Having those in your corner who cheer you on and help keep your energy and vibe high is crucial. They know how to raise your frequency, which directly affects how you show up in your business. When your vibe is high, your energy is magnetic, attracting the right people and opportunities. This magnetism can grow your business more than you might think!
I owe so much of my success to his support and our partnership. His belief in me fuels my passion and drive, allowing me to create and deliver the best for my clients.
