We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Gray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monique, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose a creative career because. It was destined for me. My great grandfather was an entrepreneur renting out jukeboxes and washing machines etc. So I knew at a very young age that I was going to do something creative. This life enables me to live freely and I wouldn’t have it any other way..I love art. I am a lover of the arts, for art is the labor of love. I believe in the future that the only jobs left will be those for creatives.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m really excited about the future of Mo Betta Brews. What sets me apart from others is that I’m one of very few many black owned, woman owned craft brewers coming out of Long Beach, Ca…Since I started Mo Betta Brews, I’ve been creating a strong community and my community speaks for me. And the brews speak for itself. There’s only 3 ingredients Organic Juice,Special Yeast and ethically sourced Pure Cane sugar ! That’s it… I’ve always considered myself an Alchemist of some sort and from the few wine tastings I knew this was something I could do on my own. And word gets around and here we are. I want to world to know that is here to stay. Let’s get into it ! All natural craft brews !

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Check out the gondola cruises in Long Beach, if you go book it at the right time you can see the sunset…what a gorgeous view. Also the Vault downtown LA is a bank that turned into a bar they have what I call “designer cocktails” a must have when visiting here. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I suppose I would like to thank my immediate peers for pulling me up on my s*** and holding me accountable. I am nothing without their efforts and tangible social support
