We had the good fortune of connecting with Katerina Kaouri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katerina, how do you define success?
I find this a very tough thing to define and I’m sure my answer will change with time, as it has through the years, but where I am right now, I would say that success is being happy with myself and myself alone. Not depending on anyone else to make me happy. Success is being content with where you are in life, recognizing what you have achieved and being proud of it. It is also being satisfied with what you have and truly feeling that you are enough.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel like what sets me apart from others is my perseverance. For the past couple of years I have been finding my own work and creating my own content and that’s a big part of how I got to where I am today both professionally and as a person. It has definitely had its challenges but it has also taught me extremely useful life lessons. I want the world to know that they should always chase their dreams no matter how scary or unattainable they seem because those who are set apart are those who don’t stop giving themselves a try. I always say it doesn’t matter how fast or how far you go as long as you keep moving forward.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my most favorite spots in the world are the cliffs in Malibu and the Malibu pier. The views are absolutely stunning and there are great places to wine and dine while watching the sunset. A new favorite place to go to is LadyByrd cafe in Echo Park. The best part about it is that you can get your own socially distanced greenhouse in their garden which is adorable. Their food is delicious and their service is impeccable. Definitely a must when visiting LA. Another personal favorite is the Farmer’s Market at The Grove where you can find great fresh produce in a beautiful, quaint environment and even create your own charcuterie boards. An absolute dream! As for the nightlife, I would suggest Good Times At Davey Wayne’s. It’s super retro, with amazing music and a cute little garden in the back. Overall, great ambiance and the fact that it’s a speakeasy with a hidden entrance makes it so much fun!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my parents who have supported me and continue to do so every day and always have the right things to say especially when things get tough. They make sure I feel loved even if we’re quite far apart and that’s so important to me because they really keep me going!
