We had the good fortune of connecting with Katlynn wit a K and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katlynn, how does your business help the community?
Well in 2019 I was just thinking about launching a clothing brand & in 2020 I launched my Streetwear Apparel Brand called TwoTwentyThree. Its been an experience like no other and I’m still in the beginning stages of this path but ultimately TwoTwentyThree isn’t just a clothing brand, it didn’t get its name soley because it sounds cool or fancy, and it’s not only about looking good but its about a divine purpose within ourselves. TwoTwentyThree introduces fashion to numerology, and in numerology TwoTwentyThree has many meanings and affirmations. The Number 223 is consisted of numbers 2 and 3. Number 2 is doubled, so its properties and symbolical powers are also magnified and stronger. It is a message from our angels that they are fully encouraging and supporting us on our divine life path, which is why TwoTwentyThree is for everyone because we all have a divine life purpose whether we realize it yet or not. The number 2 bring influences of faith, trust, harmony, happiness, and encouragement. The number 2 also relates to our divine life path. The number 3 relates to self expression and belief, inspiration, creativity, growth, manifesting and manifestation. The number 3 also relates to our angels and ascended masters who help us to focus on the divine spark within ourselves and assist with manifesting our desires. So when people wear my clothes I want it to bring them closer to themselves and spirituality. Its to remind us all to believe in ourselves and to give us comfort and confidence knowing that when wearing TwoTwentyThree it is like having a guardian angel with us. Ultimately the goal for TwoTwentyThree is to help you reach your highest potential by way of self knowledge and belief in the spiritual realm.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So 1st and foremost I am an artist. I create that’s just a part of who I am. Starting TwoTwentyThree has been challenging and still is. But I am learning more about my self and own abilities as I continue to grow my brand. I’ve started this on my own, with my moms moral support and helping hand when she can. I’ve watched a lot of youtube tutorial and ecommerce course’s to help me along the way, and still have a lot more to learn and watch. There’s been a lot of trial and error, I’ve been disappointed by botch print jobs and quality from suppliers and so much more, and I’ve invested all of my stimulus checks into starting my brand. But every time I have been faced with a obstacle that makes me feel like giving up or makes me think I am in over my head I just remember the meaning behind TwoTwentyThree and I use that to keep me focused because this is one of MY divine life purpose. When I first launched TwoTwentyThree in 2020 I was selling my clothes out of my trunk in parking lots, now in 2021 I will be launching my website, while still selling my clothes outside of my trunk in parking lots. I’m just proud of actually doing it, from ordering the equipment needed to do it on my own, from my first couple dozens bad test shirts, from finding suppliers good or bad, from all my mistakes, to designing my website, to even doing this article now and being able to talk about my own clothing line. The little progress I’ve made may not seem like much to others or myself at times but It definitely is. I’m happy to be able to say I put my best foot forward on something that I wanted to make happen and made it happen. Me starting TwoTwentyThree was about believing in myself that I can really do this. And that’s what I want the world to take away from my experience and brand, self belief. And I am excited to watch how TwoTwentyThree grows not only locally but nationally in 2021.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well Tacotarian (@tacotarianlv on IG) rapidly grew to one of my favorite vegan joints in Las Vegas and I only had them once, recently actually, for Valentines days I got there Valentines Taco Box it was 12 tacos 3 different kinds and they were all so bomb! I’ve been looking forward to going back and trying some more stuff off their menu so that would be a place I would take my friend to eat. Then we would burn it off by going to the fantastic swap meat, I like to go there to browse and shop but also there’s this arcade in there with hella old school games, I mean it so old school it still take quarters and I love it! I love arcades in general specially the ones that have DDR (dance dance resolution), the one in fantastic don’t have DDR that’s its only down side. And I don’t like to go clubin all the time but when I do it goes down, the last club I had hella fun at was right before corona happen at club chrome in the Fiesta the DJ was bumpin, but actually I always wanted to go to this night at CMXX in DTLV that was called warehouse Wednesday. That’s post to be a night were they play house music and I want to go there and shuffle the night away cause the floors in there are perfect for shuffling, so that’s where I’d take my friend next to end the day.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
During this time of launching my brand and thru the whole pandemic there are a couple people that’s help me to stay encouraged so I want to give a shout out to Slim from jmoradioshow (thats @jmoradioshow on Instagram or www.jmoradioshow.com) & my homie Tay (thats @itsjustaylv on Instagram). Slim does a lot for me, and the artist and music community with her radio show. She had one of the biggest music awards in Las Vegas last year. And Tay is an amazing poet, artist, and she has her own candle line called “Erosboxx” (@erosboxx on instagram). Both have inspired and supported me through my endeavors. And I just want to give a special shout out to my best friend and friend that want to be my best friend (lol they know how they are), for staying down.
