We had the good fortune of connecting with Kavin Donnell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kavin, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success has been my ability to persevere and keep going. The path to success is never a straight path and is always going to be filled with ups and downs. Trials are simply an inevitable part of life. However the way in which you respond to hard times will ultimately determine your success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Kavin Donnell is a RnB artist who is known for his unique cadence, vulnerable subject matter, and rich harmony of rhythmic wordplay and suggestive innuendos. Originally from Inglewood, California, Kavin’s music can be best described as a hybrid blend of Soul and Hip-Hop. The multi-talented singer and producer’s sound is braggadocious yet has a vulnerable state that makes his style diverse. The West Coast native’s seamless vocals along with a clear understanding for the culture allow him to always provide a relatable message based upon real life experiences with every song.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of the best food spots in the city to eat are Berri’s Pizza, Toca Modera, Katana, COD Seafood to name a few. If you are looking for drinks and an overall good vibe you can stop in The Nice Guy, Mama Shelter, Laurel Hardware, and Proabition.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am personally inspired by the company in which I keep. I try to always surround myself around people who are striving for greatness in any capacity of life. I believe that energy is contagious. Therefore, if you are around people who hold you accountable and push you beyond your limits, you will be able to be successful all based on your core circle of influence.
