We had the good fortune of connecting with Kay L.a. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kay, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite affirmation is “I am born worthy” because something I think a lot of people especially artists battle with being good enough but when you live in the knowing that you are created more than enough life becomes less stressful, you know you deserve whatever you desire!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a multidisciplinary artist so I practice many art forms such as musical, recording, visual, poetry and hairstyling. I’ve been practicing all of the art forms since a young age which moved me to make these passions my profession naturally. It definitely was and is still not an easy process but my faith and determination help me overcome daily. I’ve learned to be authentic to what I love no matter the hype . I want the world to know you can see yourself in me as I see myself in the others and I create to release not only the shackles of my ancestors but to also help others learn a way to express and heal their pains.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First I would take a friend to a nice brunch spot like Dooby’s, Llama’s Corner, or Eggspactation. Then I would go to the Gallery About Nothing for a relaxing sip and paint or whatever event may be happening that night. I also like the views of the World Trade Center downtown and we have to visit the natural food stores in the area like OK Natural, Moms Market, sprouts and even local farmers market. Lastly being an artist there are shows every week at different venues so we’ll have a fair share to choose from as well as amazing restaurants located downtown like Blue Agave, Land of Kush, Oleum, Sweet green, moe’s seafood, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shout-out “The Incredible Creation” my management team as well as my main support team in life and business my bestfriend Parys Wyatt who is an extremely skilled visionary. Mullyman who is my partner and business partner. Bobby Woody & Tamira Slade for being a big part to my production.
