We had the good fortune of connecting with Steffon Palmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steffon, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I believe risk taking is one of the keys to life. The reasoning is because without risks we limit ourselves and our capabilities. As an Artist taking risks is one of the most powerful things we can do. Being your own individual with your own life experiences and taking risks creates even more of a meaningful art and life. So much of my upbringing I felt people had expectations of how I should be and act, I could easily say that taking risks is the reason why Ive come so far in my career at such a young age, and I will continue to take risks and create magic by doing so.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I always knew I was destined to influence the world. I grew up being bullied in school and used many creative outlets to keep me stable and positive about the things I was going through. I started as an Athlete, I trained in many sports such as, baseball, soccer, volleyball, martial arts and even track and field. As I grew older, I also found my love for Entertaining, so I joined choir and Dancing when I was in High School. I realized performing for people is my True passion and i wanted to do it for the rest of my life. I Graduated high school in 2017 and moved only 1 hour away to LA where I then booked my first agency for Dancing at the age of 18. I was booking many music videos for other musical Artists like, Doechii, Alicia Keys, Sza, Doja Cat, Bring Me the Horizon, Kesha, and many other artists. I also booked working with the cast of Star Wars during the Rise of Skywalker. I later booked my first Modeling Agency where I booked commercials. I Have also modeled for Many Designers and LAFW and Kornit Fashion week. recently I have Modeled for Vogue Magazine. I just got back from working 3 Years in a Vegas Show Dancing, Stilt Walking and doing Puppeteering. where I then after started doing stilts for other events like Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. Where I have worked in the past. Of Course, being a person of color Queer and alternative there are many challenges that I have to pass. like not being looked at as an option for many roles. And having to even work harder to be seen in the industry. I also see that there will be even more people that don’t want to root for me because I am not like them, and a lot of people will already expect me to fail. I realized that this is the life that was given to me and I have to make the most of it. I love me too much not to try. and I have a story to tell.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to all of my favorite spooky places and thrifting places. I really enjoy Horror Coffee on Lankershim in North Hollywood. Hopefully they really like movies and films the way I do because right across from Horror Coffee is Laemmle Noho7 where they play many Premiers of Movies, Popular movies and even Cool indie Films! I would then show them Burbank where there are many thrift Stores and even a store Dedicated to Halloween and Spooky Films called Halloween Town. I also enjoy activities at the park, going to Santa Monica / Venice Beach. or even Arcades, Playing Pool and Bowling.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would first like to dedicate Woodrow Wilson Classical High Schools Dance and Choir department in Long beach CA. I grew up learning music, dance and Entertainment there. they gave me such much inspiration and they gave me amazing training. I would also like to thank my Family / God Family and Friends I grew up with. We always kept each other on our toes and always pushed each other to be better. I love them so much and so grateful to have friends that are also artists that see the best in me. Lastly, I would like to thank Tim Burton for being an inspiration to me artistically and the Horror and Goth community giving me the space to be myself.
