We had the good fortune of connecting with Kazumi Vites and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kazumi, is there something you believe many others might not?
“Just keep going” is a piece of advice we commonly hear from people, but sometimes we need a full paradigm shift in order to clearly see whether the path that we are on is serving us or hindering our success. Minor adjustments along the way are great when the path that we have chosen is in alignment with our most desired goals, but when we refuse to acknowledge and admit that perhaps our current trajectory is leading us towards settling for less, or lowering our expectations of success, then something much more than “Just keep going” is needed. A new perspective on the big picture is sometimes the refocusing we need to bring our highest ideals in line with our everyday struggle to become the best version of ourselves. .

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of myself as a creative person who functions as an important supportive figure who usually intuitively picks up on what my clients and collaborators want and how they envision their final products. With regard to my own products, I am excited to share my love for elegant design and functional comfort. I am very proud to say that our products are locally made here in LA and all of the materials are Fair Trade, ecologically sourced and sustainable, using mostly natural wool, cashmere, organic cotton and silk.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Right now, my favorite hang out is in Tarzana on Ventura Blvd at a gelato place called, Anita La Mamma Del Gelato. It’s beautifully displayed, inspiring, pretty and such a creative treat I indulge myself with when I’m craving something sweet, delicious and amazing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be where I am today without the very fortunate opportunity I have had working with many talented people. Without naming specific names, these people have given me opportunities to design and pattern making for TV shows, the Met Gala, Fashion Week runway shows, custom gowns and red carpet events. All of which have made a major impact on my work.
