We had the good fortune of connecting with KBanks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KBanks, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I knew it was going to be hell. I truly feel as if my entire life was all training to give me a vast skillset to venture on my own. I had shifted industries so drastically a number of times, so I knew it was going to be 3-5yrs before I even got to a ground where I felt somewhat stable. Switching tracks is hard, but I also knew it was going to be a steep uphill I just needed to chip away at. I grew up playing sports and always carried a relentless mentality, so I knew I could trust myself – only this time was with my name.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a stand up comedian, producer, and writer in Las Vegas, NV. What sets me a part is my tenacious head strong attitude with the radical idea that comedy should be more welcoming to women in every aspect. For a long time, the Vegas scene was a group of misfits who were ostracized from every other town, and found rotating crowds in the travelers that made them lazy. When I first started, I didn’t like half the lineup due to premises or people, and so I made it my mission to set myself apart by creating shows I wanted to see that also provided a safe green room. I was over 1992 comedy – “I hate my job, I hate my car, I hate my wife” – it was time for new perspectives and voices. I want shows where, especially women, don’t feel intimidated about sitting in the front row.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Coming from a planning background, I would like to say I have the perfect itinerary, but me and my friends have really bonded over the art of the hang. 9 times out of 10 we barely have a plan for an afternoon – we truly fly by the seat of our pants and using free will to the maximum. Is this how I found myself in situations I could never even imagine? 1000%
That being said, karaoke at Dinos is always a good idea until it’s not.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost – shout out to my friends who were my first and smallest audience way before any microphones were around. Second, major gratitude to my family for the support and Jason Outlaw for the simple push. There’s way too many people to thank in between – I’ve been very fortunate to be surrounded by an incredible core. And also major thank you to Stoner Rob – my bestie, mentor, and favorite travel partner literally passing down insights to the craft while enjoying the journey.
