Meet Kedma Ough | Small Business Consultant and Inventor Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kedma Ough and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kedma, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I think that is a very hard question to answer and dependent on each persons journey. I have a saying in business “You have the right to quit each day as long as you commit to showing up the next day”. There are times you want to quit and only faith keeps you going. As someone that has lost everything in her life twice, I have every reason to have quit. At the age of 18, I escaped a violent environment and was in hiding for 5 years. I promise you that there were weeks during those times that I wanted to quit. There are many circumstances that would break anyone’s spirit so you either have to believe in your abilities without reservation or you have to believe in a higher power. One of those has to ring true for you to decide if you are going to keep going or to give up. If it is less about a life and death scenario and more focused on a business decision it would prudent to focus on a logical analysis of the situation before you give up or keep going. Sometimes it is better to cut our losses and move on from a relationship or business deal because the sacrifice of staying is too great.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a nationally recognized business consultant focused on helping business owners and inventors scale companies to 7 figures or license products for more than the investment they put into the invention itself. Nothing in my life has been easy. LOL! Challenges are just steps that are taller than other steps. If you think of it as a staircase and you are focused on going up the staircase you won’t let a taller step keep you from your end goal. I have learned a lot of lesson and in doing so helping more than 10,000 business owners that were not bankable leverage $ 100 million in alternative financing. The biggest lesson I learn is that making money is very similar to a chess game. If you understand the game, the rules, the various players on the board (Queen, King, Bishop) and the power they hold than you can build a strategy to win. Most people that follow my work are aware that I wear capes (uniforms) because of the symbolism that superheroes capture (service to all, bravery, defending the underdog, ability to help others when no one else will).
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I travel the world so my area is actually broader. On a given month I am somewhere else because I have multiple passports. If you were in Portland, Oregon I would take you for a beautiful hike in Tyron Creak Park or maybe a bike ride on the Spring Water Corridor. If we were in NYC where I travel monthly we would take in a show on Broadway and if I was in Dublin (which I will be this month) we need to sip a cup of tea in any cool cafe on Grafton street. My family used to own a business in downtown Dublin
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes. I would like to call a shout out to Farmingdale State College for providing a full scholarship to educate myself after I escaped my home environment. In my best selling book Target Funding I dedicate the book to the college and state ” To Farmingdale State College, for believing a young girl could impact the world if given the opportunity to do so
