Hi Keith, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Tutoring can be a professional service, and therefore tutors should be paid a professional wage. Many large tutoring organizations take a large cut of the billable rate, keeping tutor wages down, making it difficult for educators to consider tutoring as a long term career choice. We aim to offer high wages, in an effort to cultivate a team of top tier educators. We believe that year over year retention of top talent empowers us to deliver the most professional, and highest quality, services possible. Continuity helps students develop over the course of their academic, and long term relationship with students, allow us to cater to their individual needs.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
StudyTime Tutoring is a small team of professional tutors with over a decade of experience tutoring in the San Francisco Bay Area. The area’s commitment to education has empowered up to make a career out of 1:1 tutoring, and our intimate knowledge of the area’s schools like Serra High School or The Nueva School gives insight into the specific challenges of the academic landscape in the Bay Area.

Given our small size we offer a customized learning experience; moreover, given our ability to work with the same students year over year, we are able to offer guidance in terms of which classes to take going forward, or support students in their college search. Oftentimes many tutors work part time, and are not available year after year, but our team is all full-time professional tutors, allowing us to develop relationships with students, and customize our approach to their specific needs.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For food, grab tacos at Sonoratown or enjoy fine dining at n/naka. If you’re into shopping or fashion, readers can consider exploring Rodeo Drive or the eclectic Melrose Avenue.

In the evening, catch a concert at the Hollywood Bowl or a comedy show at The Comedy Store. The venue has a dark, intimate vibe, perfect for comedy. It has been a launching pad for some of the biggest names in comedy, including Richard Pryor, Robin Williams, and Jim Carrey,
