We had the good fortune of connecting with Kellee Halford and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kellee, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I happen to be the mother of two adolescents, an 18 year old boy and 16 year old girl they are both cis-gender. I think the most impactful thing I’ve done as a parent has been to provide exposure to diverse experiences and context. As a creative and as a human being with any level of social consciousness, I believe it is necessary to ensure that I maintain an awareness that the abundance of people in the world lead to an abundance of experiences and contexts from which to draw information and learn new/different ways of being and doing. I believe that maintaining this awareness helps to foster compassion and empathy and it allows one to freely enjoy the power of creativity and diversity.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business, L’Erin Greenfield Consultants officially launched a year ago August 1. Launching a business during a global health crisis is not a conventional move but what my firm does is non-conventional. I was inspired by pure recognition of what was happening around me. My friends, collaborators and fellow creatives often found themselves asking me to help them plan and execute the various ideas they had for productions, recordings, books, or whatever their creative endeavors. I have always had a natural acumen for planning development and implementation. I realized that what I do others weren’t necessarily as effective at doing the same thing, from there my business was created, with the encouragement of my parents, especially my father who has done similar work for over 4 decades. I prayed about it and decided that “it was now or never.” Since that time, I’ve served as production consultant for stage plays, talent showcases and a small independent film. I’ve also had the opportunity to consult on several forthcoming music releases in several capacities to include vocal contracting, vocal production and production coordinating. I am now working with a few clients in politics, young candidates, helping them to ensure that the personnel they select for their teams are consistent with the personage of the candidate. I’m guided by the principle of integrity specifically consistency and constancy. If I’m involved I will hold everyone vested accountable to integrity.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my good friend were to come visit me in Nashville, I’d have to absolutely take him to the newly opened National Museum of African American Music, the Ryman and the Grand Ole Opry. I’d take him to the Schermerhorn Symphony Center and the Parthenon at Centennial Park. I’m big on local spots and I personally like to support minority/black owned businesses and some really dope eateries that I support are Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria, Willie B’s Kitchen and Lounge, Southern V and Prince’s Hot Chicken. I’d also hang out, on at The Local Distro for Jazz Monday’s and Minerva Ave. These would be my essential spots but I’d ensure that if my bestie wanted to visit Acme Feed and Seed and some of the other great venues for live music and dancing on Broadway in Nashville that I’d make it happen!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents, James and Patricia Halford, my children Michael and Christian Simms and countless other family members deserve so much credit and recognition because I honestly wouldn’t be able to do any of the things I do now without the village of family members that help to encourage me and hold me accountable for pursuing a career path that I truly had to chart for myself. I also have to thank my community of creatives in Nashville, TN and my longtime “brothers” William, John, Theo, Joshua, and Tyrrell for holding me accountable to my own vision.
