We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelley, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Becoming an owner of CrossFit Kerosene was a big step. My husband and I relocated from New York for my career and we were adjusting and adapting to a new environment, trying to make friends and get involved in our community. We both are big gym rats and transitioning from an athlete to owners was/is a lot of work but we love the gym!!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My husband and I run this gym but we couldn’t do it without our coaches & community. We have a love for fitness & helping people so it’s just incredible that we can do something we love!! It’s not easy but the community is what keeps us strong & the doors open

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Newbury Park is a small town sandwiched between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. There are fun hiking trails, as you are surrounding beautiful mountains . Basta is a hot spot for yummy Italian food. My husband and I love to eat sushi at Iskiaki. We also drive north to Santa Barbara to visit the zoo, museums, wineries and eat fresh seafood .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband, Ravee. I could never have done this without him. We are a great duo.
