We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Calhoun and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I truly believe in the Golden Rule. And I am willing to fight for that. Our Fashion company started because above all things I found it was important to create an authentic community in the Fashion and Beauty industries.

CKC House of Design is Fierce Fashion.

Here is an article from when we were featured in Business Insider and it goes
into some ethics of the business https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/ckc-house-of-design-takes-sustainable-fashion-one-step-further-1029604360?fbclid=IwAR3wOczrMcn9YpDrpOkjx2YxMtCc0BzAnUmmLxy4DNtYSj65q2bVTmBks8s_aem_AftrWdQjq1wU6ioWBYyuBFqimhmVCbi9jMXfVcAKialhQPuPgRv8erzzmYYOXgwHfMg

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have created a brand called #SportsFashion which bridges a gap I noticed in between both industries that I felt like we could fill as a company. I love winning and I love making other feel Beautiful. Everyday. Everyone deserves to experience and enjoy that feeling. We have been featured in ESPN, MSG Networks, Sirius XM radio, and I currently write for Jets Country Sports Illustrated. I have also walked the runway as a model for world – renowned eco fashion Designer Jeff Garner who has dressed the likes of Taylor Swift and has truly been a game changer in this industry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, North Carolina (aka Tobacco Road, aka “The Triangle”) is an absolutely incredible place to live for a young professional. After graduating college in Raleigh I have continued to live in and explore this area with my friends, family and industry connections for over a decade. The college sports rivalry here between NC State in Raleigh, Duke in Durham and UNC in Chapel Hill is sooo much fun! I would consider this place to be the best rivalry in college sports. So naturally, I would be taking them to a live sports event, preferably in the suites at an NC State football game at Carter Finley stadium or perhaps a basketball game at Reynolds Collesuim. We actually have a pretty cool mall here so we could swing by there to pick up some makeup or outfits to wear to the game beforehand. After the game we would hang at Fenton in Cary, NC at “The Cowboy Bar” to spice things up! The next morning I would suggest catching brunch in downtown Cary, NC just outside of Raleigh at a super yummy organic restaurant called SCRATCH and after we could catch up, have a brewski at the dog park at the Cary Park and watch the light shows by the fountain and sit by the fire.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Mom. She’s my hero.
