We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Mark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
My husband jokes I used to be the most “risk-averse” person. Now that I run my own business, I have to make brave choices every day. There’s a term called “Micro-Dosing Bravery”, and it’s the idea that practicing small acts of bravery can help you work towards a larger goal. I’ve competed in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, run the Boston Marathon, even had my daughter without an epidural ha. And I don’t share these things to brag. I share because I once was an extremely timid, indecisive girl! Practicing overcoming became a muscle; a muscle I still exercise daily.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I absolutely love what I do and take a lot of inspiration from fashion, travel, and landscapes. At my studio, I prioritize telling each couple’s unique story through flowers and design. Your wedding or event becomes so personal to me. I don’t want your flowers to be commonplace commodities at your event. I want them to evoke nostalgia, meaning; to be incapable of digestion in a quick second. I want your guests to be enthralled, and not in a gaudy sense, but in a way that makes them say, “Wow, this wedding really feels like ___ & ___.” Finding this niche of clients who value the art of floristry, appreciate quiet luxury, and respect service people requires extra effort on my part. I’m so excited to bring all our 2024 vision boards to life and meet new 2025 couples with their incredible ideas.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m young and fun, but have a lot of grandma hobbies. I’d start at the Huntington Library and Gardens in San Marino – they have incredible landscapes and flower breeds. San Gabriel Nursery is also a favorite.. I’ve known the owners since I was a kid and they help me source exquisite roses. Lunch at In-N-Out is a must if you’re from the east coast. Or “Julienne’s” is a hometown favorite! There’s a boba shop on every block here, it’s pretty much our water. If you’re up for the traffic, drive out to Malibu or Laguna for sunset and gorgeous views. As a San Gabriel Valley native, I’d say eat as much Asian food as you can!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who have supported my journey. My husband, mom, family, and of course my #1 advisor God. I’d love to shout-out all my clients past, present, and future! They hold a very special place in my heart and story. Whether they know it or not, when they signed on the dotted line with me they were saying, “I trust you, I support you.” Every single one of them helped build this dream of mine – to serve others through flowers and push the art of floristry forward.
