We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Yazdi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelly, what do you attribute your success to?
When I think about the many factors that have contributed to my success, I think the most important one has been the team of individuals, brands, and businesses who have been a part of my journey. I truly believe that “Teamwork makes the dream work”, and that relationships will take you further than you ever could have imagined. I am incredibly grateful and humbled by those who have joined me on my journey, and I only know success because they have been by my side.
What should our readers know about your business?
Ride Wild is a Powersports and Adventure Lifestyle platform I started with my best friend, and it has grown into an entity that hosts events and gatherings all over the world; encouraging people to get outside and play. (For those of you wondering what “powersports” are, they are essentially motorsports like motorcycles, snowmobiles, off roading vehicles, dirt bikes, etc). What I am most proud of is how my business has empowered others, and created meaningful relationships. It is really a special thing to see two people meet at one of our events, witness the sparkle of a new friendship begin, and watch it grow for years to come. What ultimately matters in life is the relationships we share with others, so creating a space for that to happen is dear to me. If I could give the world something through the avenue of Ride Wild, I’d want it’s legacy to embody the value of cultivating meaningful relationships with others, and the importance of playing outdoors. Like I always say, “Together we ride, together we rise.” When it comes to building a small business, well it takes a full-time commitment. It’s not a part-time or 9-to-5 deal, it’s an all or nothing kind of thing. The evolution of having an idea, making it tangible, birthing it into the world and giving it legs was by no means easy or graceful; instead, the process was one of constant learning and growth. And it still is. But that’s what fuels the engine of a small business, it’s a learning and growing that make it so worth it! I encourage anyone and everyone who wants to make their dream business come true to do it – no matter how it turns out it will make you a better. If you want to become a stronger individual or build a great business, you have to put in the time. Dedicate yourself to your craft and get yourself a mentor who’s done it – success leaves breadcrumbs, and learning fast is a skill that will take you far in life. Additionally, every opportunity whether a win or a fail, ultimately becomes a lesson that you will take with you on your journey. It’s best to brush off the hard times and understand quickly that they will empower you in the long run. Let your mistakes fuel your evolution.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When it comes to visiting a new city, or exploring your backyard I always like to start with supporting the local business in the area and build an itinerary from there. Again, cultivating relationships with the people of the community is a really special thing and I value supporting local entities. I’d start with a local coffee shop, and from there figure out something to do outdoors. Go for a walk by the river, find a hike up a mountain, look into local adventures (rafting, off roading, etc). After a solid day of playing outside, I’d ask some locals where they like to eat and make sure I go check it out. It’s amazing what you’ll find when you ask others what they like – taking a moment to talk to another has the potential to create a memory that will last a lifetime. If I were to make it simple, I’d say the perfect formula for a good time is an early morning start with some coffee, an afternoon adventure outside, followed up with an evening full of food and good music. You can’t go wrong with a day spent exploring!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many folks that I would love to give a big hug and shoutout to when it comes to thanking them for their support, love and encouragement. Of this list, I’d like to give a big thanks to my ohana (family), especially my chosen one. These wild ones know who they are. It’s an honor to meet people on this journey of life of whom you instantly resonate with and decide to grow along side with. And thank you (yes you the one reading this), your time and support means more than you know.
