Meet Kendelle Lyn: Video Game Host & Digital Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendelle Lyn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kendelle, what do you attribute your success to?
I think this is more of a two-part answer for me. Most of what I do, in the video game industry, involves high engagement with an audience. I produce, edit, and host an open discussion podcast about news within the industry. On top of that I also stream on Twitch four days a week for roughly 6 hours each day. In simple terms, I am a digital content creator. One of the most important factors behind my success is persistence. It’s important to continue doing what you love with a great amount of effort. A lot of projects will come and go and you can’t let the dead projects stop you. Continuing the journey of creativity and having the persistent mindset to never give up is a huge key factor. Part two of my answer is community. That’s really the backbone of my success. I would never be where I am today if I didn’t have a supportive community. Building one is tough but once you get there, they really help your art thrive.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
You hear from a lot of people say you have to know someone in the industry to get into the industry. That wasn’t the case for me. I had to fine tune my craft and really understand my platform. Part of what I do is not just gaming but advocating for mental health within the community. I hope the audience that comes across my brand really sees that because it’s something I’m extremely proud of. Being a woman in the gaming industry my journey started off tough because I felt I had to “prove” myself as a gamer. Somewhere down the road I realized I never had to do that. I am a gamer because I love playing video games and dedicate a part of my life to it
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I think it’s important to show all the different cultures within LA. One place I find to be an amazing pocket of culture is Little Tokyo. Two blocks of Japanese shops, food, and entertainment is the perfect start to a vacation. After that showing them various places to eat. This city is filled with amazing restaurants of different cultures, so why just eat at fast food chains. Another great place is the beach to take in the culture that is Los Angeles. Last but not least, I gotta take them to Disneyland. Why go to SoCal without a fun Disney trip (especially since Galaxy’s Edge opened up).
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I can think of two people whom I must thank. The first shoutout goes to my roommate, Justin. He’s the one that really pushed me, all those years back, to start streaming on Twitch. He saw how much I loved video games and knew I wanted to go somewhere with it. That’s when I really honed it on my niche. Another person I must thank is a wonderful producer I worked with on a popular Youtube Channel. Mary really believed in me during a casting call. I’m not sure what swayed her to hire me; was it my extroverted personality, my love for FPS games, or if it was just the perfect time and place? I don’t know. However, it was my start towards a professional career. So, a big thank you to Justin and Mary!
