We had the good fortune of connecting with Kerla Pamphile and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kerla, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m born and raised in Brooklyn, NY but I’m Haitian. Growing up Haitian and in NY i was always thought to hustle and to make what you have work the best way you can. That impacted who i am today and the way i started my career as a creative director because i always looked for a way to make beauty out of nothing. I can create and make a shoot work with barely any budget or supplies.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Im a makeup artist turned creative Director. I started my journey as a creative director at the end of 2019 going into 2020. I always had a great mind to visualize things and when the world stood still in 2020 it gave my mind space to breathe and just explore my creativity. My brand stands out because I’m a one man show. I can conceptualize anything and make the whole vision come to life with barely any resource.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting i would take her to Art tech house because I always enjoy their exhibit then ill take her to lavie for a nice dinner with a view. On Saturday we’ll stay in while i cook dinner catch up and watch Rom Coms. On sunday we will go brunch at park on 14th and then head to decades to enjoy their day party.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout some of my creative friends. Temmy Omotayo @temmyturner_photo who is my photographer behind almost all my visions We work so well together and create magic out of nothing and I appreciate him so much for his time and dedication to my art and he plays such a major part of my growth.
I would also like to shoutout agnes Ashi @aggie_hair who always supports me in my vision and always comes through whenever i need her. We feed off of each other’s energy and really work well together.
