We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Chu, MD and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The decision to start my own men’s health and boutique urology clinic came from both personal conviction and professional frustration.

As a urologist, I’ve taken care of thousands of men dealing with low testosterone, erectile dysfunction, and fertility challenges. What I began noticing was a disturbing trend—too many men were being treated at clinics where the focus was more on sales than science. Patients were often started on testosterone or other therapies without proper workup, without being told how it could affect their fertility, and sometimes without even being seen by a physician. That didn’t sit right with me.

At the same time, I realized that in a traditional practice, I didn’t have the time or flexibility to give patients the depth of care and education they truly needed. These are intimate, vulnerable issues. Men deserve more than a 10-minute appointment and a prescription.

So the thought process was this: What if we could build a practice that offers the access and convenience of a modern men’s health clinic, but with the integrity, expertise, and evidence-based care of a specialist-led urology practice? What if we did it in a way that was approachable, transparent, and focused on long-term health—not just quick fixes? What if we did it incorporating modern digital technology?

That became the foundation for this business. It’s about treating men the way I’d want my own brother, father, or friend to be treated—with honesty, science, and respect.

Another major influence was the podcast I co-host, “Man Up”, where we take a science-based, no-BS approach to men’s health topics. Through those conversations, I started hearing from listeners across the country who were frustrated with the care they were receiving—or weren’t receiving at all. The podcast became a platform to educate, but also to listen. It made me realize there was a real demand for a clinic that combined deep expertise with real-world accessibility. The practice is, in many ways, an extension of the mission behind the podcast: to bring clarity, trust, and evidence-based care back into men’s health.

Lastly, I’ve always been passionate about breaking the stigma surrounding men’s health. Too often, men suffer in silence—whether it’s about their energy, sex life, or fertility—because they’re afraid to ask questions or they don’t know where to turn. I hope this practice plays a role in changing that. By creating a space that’s clinically sound, judgment-free, and genuinely supportive, I want men to feel empowered to take charge of their health—and know that they’re not alone in the process.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is a boutique urology and men’s health clinic that specializes in evidence-based care for issues like low testosterone, erectile dysfunction, prostate health, and male fertility. What sets us apart is that we’re not just another men’s health clinic offering cookie-cutter hormone plans—we’re a physician-led practice run by a board-certified urologist who is committed to doing things the right way.

We take a deeply personalized, guideline-driven approach to care. Every patient gets a thoughtful evaluation, not a sales pitch. We focus on long-term health outcomes, not just short-term symptom relief. I’m most proud that we’ve created a space where men feel seen, heard, and taken seriously—where they can ask vulnerable questions without judgment and get treatment that actually helps them.

Getting here wasn’t easy. Leaving the stability of a group practice to start something from scratch—especially in a space filled with hype and misinformation—came with plenty of uncertainty. But I felt strongly that the only way to change the system was to build something different. I leaned into my values, surrounded myself with trusted mentors, and kept returning to one question: Is this what I’d want for someone I love? That helped guide every business and clinical decision.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that clarity of mission is everything. When you know why you’re doing something—and who you’re doing it for—it becomes much easier to cut through the noise, stay focused, and build something meaningful.

What I want the world to know is this: men’s health matters. It’s not just about testosterone levels or performance—it’s about confidence, energy, fertility, mental clarity, and long-term vitality. Our brand is about restoring trust in men’s healthcare. We’re here to provide real solutions, backed by science, delivered with compassion. That’s the story we’re telling—and the standard we’re setting.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting LA for a week, I’d make sure they got a mix of what makes this city so unique—great food, amazing views, and the kind of energy that only exists here.

Day 1:
We’d start in Venice, grab brunch at Great White, sunset at Palisades Park in Santa Monica.

Day 2:
A hike up to Griffith Observatory along the Fern Trail in the morning, followed by a dim sum brunch at Din Tai Fung in Century City

Day 3:
Catch a nighttime show at Hollywood Bowl – impeccable vibes.

Day 4:
Spend the day in Manhattan Beach—surf, chill, and then dinner at The Strand House.

Day 5:
Head out to East LA to grab some authentic Taiwanese food.

Day 6:
Catch a Dodgers or Lakers game, then Korean BBQ at Park’s

Day 7:
LACMA nights, if its happening!

What I love about LA is that it can be fast or slow, loud or peaceful—whatever you need, it’s here. And the people you meet along the way—from creatives to founders to just passionate locals—always keep things interesting.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely—my shoutout goes to my wife. None of this would be possible without her unwavering support, honest feedback, and belief in the vision—even during the uncertain early days. She’s been my sounding board, my anchor, and my biggest champion every step of the way.
