Meet Kevin Laferriere & Evan Kyle Berger | Comedians & Content Creators

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Laferriere & Evan Kyle Berger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin Laferriere, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Normalize the frustration and failures of parenting while still loving being a parent. That is the core messaging of our accounts. We have so many moms and dads reach out to us, thanking us for normalizing the beautiful mess that is parenting. We also want to normalize stay at home dads. Dads who know birthdays, doctor’s names, and teacher’s names. We don’t go in for that comedy. Laughing at mom having the mental load isn’t comedy that intrigues us. We like the idea of going to the doctor’s and being nervous the whole time that they’re going to find out you’re a fraud of a parent and call you out. Focusing on and laughing at these things is what we aim to help parents around the world and let them know they’re not alone and they’re doing just fine.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are Evan Berger & Kevin Laferriere (creators of @thedumbdads and The Dumb Dad Podcast), we bring humor to the perils of parenting. 2 real life Stay-At-Home dads for years, after having met in sketch comedy, create parenting-focused content and have honest dialogue about what it means to be a father and parent.
We have stayed focused on keeping our content not only relatable but as consistent as possible. We learned quickly when creating content that you can’t be too specific, when we would make something and post it that sometimes felt too unique of a pov we would often find we got an even bigger response from people saying things like “I feel so seen because of this” and we never expected that. We focus on the parent experience, not the childs, so what sets us apart from others is that we never show our children online and stay firm on that stance. We believe that parenting is messy and hard, not the perfect lifestyle we are often fed on social media. We acknowledge the mistakes we make and pour humor into the learning experience of those moments.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely focus on good eats for sure. Would take them to In N Out for a classic LA cheeseburger. But also maybe to Black Market Liquor Bar in the Valley for a nice meal. If they are bringing their kiddos there is plenty of fun things to do other than the big Mouse House down in Anaheim. We could go to the Getty for some views, out to the beach (weather permitting) or to a place like the trains in Griffith or the Zoo as well!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A huge shoutout to our wives. We would not be us if not for their love, support, and encouragement. The Dumb Dads literally wouldn’t be a thing if our wives didn’t believe in us. The four of us are constantly talking about the business and how we can improve/grow. When an event or opportunity comes up, they do everything they can to adjust our schedule to make those things happen. They were our partners and teammates before we were parents and they’ll be our partners and teammates after the kids move out…Assuming they move out. They are going to move out, right? People joke about their kids not moving out and like, haha. Great joke…but we will get our house back, right?
