We had the good fortune of connecting with Khloe Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Khloe, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe in taking risk. If you don’t take risk how ill you know if you can accomplish something or not? I a huge believer in making a plan and working the plan. My entire career has been about following my passion.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my own charity at the age of 8. I started Khloe Kares where I make and distribute tote bags that I make and sew. These bags are filled with over 20 bare necessity items that women who are experiencing homelessness needs. I also do leadership workshops for youth to help them start their own businesses. And lastly, I travel to Ghana once a year to install water pumps and bathroom facilities in schools with no access to clean water safe water. My work all started when I noticed a woman that was homeless and I wanted to do something to help her. Now 5 years later I’m still helping and supporting the homeless community by hosting events in skid row. Since the pandemic I’ve moved my workshops over to zoom. And this year I’ve been sending school supplies and hygiene items over to Ghana. I recently started working on a community project called “community fridges”. They have been popping up all over Los Angeles. They help feed the community. They eliminate food waste and provide a sustainable food option for those who are food insecure. One thing I’ve learned was how to pivot during this time. Traveling has stopped but I’ve been able to reach people online and co duct business through online conferences. My proudest moment is that I’m still doing what I love. Everyone moment in my life has shaped who I am and I conduct myself. All of my moments has built different relationships that has helped me move along my journey

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Of my best friend was visiting me, we would first check out one of my favorite coffee shops In Inglewood called Hilltop. They have the best food and offer “good vibes only”. Next we would find some local street art. Maybe even go to a museum. I live in Orange County, so hitting up the beach would be a must!!! We could rent some bikes and cruise the beach.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would dedicate my career to my family. My family has been a huge support system throughout the entire process. They believed in me the from the start and helped me develop a plan and strategy.
