We had the good fortune of connecting with Khyran Shank and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Khyran, why did you pursue a creative career?
The reason why I’ve pursued the career of an artist or creative rather is because I’ve never been able to just sit still. As I grew, I kinda knew that a regular 9-5 schedule wasn’t for me. Not to say that there’s anything wrong with that but I just knew I had more to offer for myself

I’ve always loved the challenge, process, and result of whatever I decide to create. It’s always been an interest of mine, being a artist/creative, I just never really knew how or where to put the energy. Until I found music, which lead to different other portals of creativity from hosting/MC’ing events and acting.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
First and foremost I am a hip hop artist. The type of artist I am can’t even be described or put in a box, which is why I love who I am as an artist so much. I’m very versatile when it comes to my work, one thing I can say that is very unique about my artistry is my voice. My voice doesn’t need anything, it’s very distinctive, with a quality sound.

How I even got to the point where I am at now, is an entire story of its own. I actually started creating music with some people back in my track and field days in college. I WAS HORRIBLE of course but for some reason I really liked my voice, so I decided to keep trying. I decided to keep writing, recording, and trying different things. I made my first legit song and I kept going from there.

I had to learn all about the business side of course; from networking finding different engineers, producers, videographers, and even figuring out the proper way the music business works. It was all very very frustrating, confusing, but all in all EXCITING. I’ve never had such a challenge I wanted to tackle and I don’t regret any moment of it.

I’ve been through so many ups and downs. Learning this business has had so many teachable lessons. Lessons such as knowing what you’re getting into legally, learning how to properly sell your music, working for the long game instead of instant gratification. I’ve learned to always keep going most importantly STAYING CONSISTENT in everything that I do concerning music.

What I want the world to know about my brand, my brand is called “Supr Cool” with the two letter O’s symbolizing the infinity sign. What it means is that one who wears my brand is “Supr Cool” in their own right, and that infinity signs stands for one persons cool last forever no one can take it from you. I’ve prided myself off being an individual of my own cool and not falling victim to trendy followings. I want the world to know that YOU are cool in your own right, and nobody can be you, nobody can take that away from you ever.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Me moving from Indiana there’s a lot of things I’ve never experienced since I’ve been in LA but now since I’ve been here and my people would come out here’s what the itinerary would be this:

Wash rinse repeat hahah no jk

I would probably have to say starting from the bottom up.

We would definitely go to each brunch spot everyday because, well that’s just what we do ha. Head to the beach Santa Monica hit the pier and cruise on the PCH. Mostly site seeing and such.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
