Meet Kiarah Jackson | Artist & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiarah Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kiarah, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
By the end of my career, I want to have known artworks and accessories all around the world. I want to be financially comfortable with my own creative space to express the last of my artistry. I want to be in the state of knowing that I’ve changed my life for the better and I’ve done what makes me the happiest.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always thought of myself as a creative mind, having explored different skills and hobbies. It shows in my work. My art is simply a representation of what I see in the world everyday. I’ll be honest and say that I don’t think I am any different from other artists. I’ve been through struggles and challenges just like anyone else, but I’ve made it through with the help of my friends, family, and myself. I am where I am because the people close to me never let me quit. Though I am young and my life is just now beginning, it has not been the easiest, but I’ve learned that even if no one else is there, I always have me and I will always be my biggest supporter. And I want the world to know that through the struggle, even with where I am, I made it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit my area, I’d take them to the two best vegan restaurants in Chicago (Majani’s and Soul Vegan), to Navy Pier, a donut shop, the movies, and we’d take a walk through downtown to people watch. We’d go for fried grits and cauliflower at Majani’s, then vegan quiche, bbq, and pot pie at Soul Vegan. After we’ve sat for a while, we’ll head to Navy Pier to enjoy a view of the water, maybe indulge in a couple activities. The next trip out, we would get giant glazed donuts from Dat Donut and go see the newest movie on State st. Lastly, we’d spend the rest of our time people watching downtown. There’s always something interesting to watch, photographers, costumes, musicians, performers and even weddings!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout both my mom, Ladetria Warren (Twisted Rose Metal) and D’Sheadra Benford (The Krafty Chick) for always being there to support me and my business and pushing me to be my greatest!
