We had the good fortune of connecting with Kid Leo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kid, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I always want to be remembered as something people have never quite experienced before. I think I can relate that to all aspects of my life. However, creatively speaking, I’m constantly asking myself to create in ways I never have, pushing boundaries within not only myself but within the creative industry as a whole. If it’s similar to anything you’ve seen, felt, or experienced, I’m not interested in pursuing it. That, or that I’ve made you feel something. I hope people remember that through me, through my art, they’ve felt something.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart from others is how much I trust myself in the creative process. I never question myself and am always leaning into my vision, at all costs. I’m rarely following guidelines or others’ ideas. I have a unique style in all that I do that is constantly transforming into something new.

I got to where I am today professionally by being my most authentic self. Honestly, I’d say it was easy. It all comes down to trusting yourself wholeheartedly. Yes, of course sacrifices have been made. I’ve jumped on opportunities I knew I deserved but missed out on important events in my life to be able to do so. I often sacrifice sleep and time with loved ones because I’m so powerfully dedicated to myself and my vision.

I’d say some important lessons I’ve learned along the way are to try things that make you uncomfortable, lean into the spaces and people that inspire and celebrate you, trust your vision, and to take big risks.

I want the world to know that your vision is within your reach. Lean into love and create your reality with no boundaries in mind.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I was looking forward to this question! I am blessed enough to say I have an incredible and inspiring support system surrounding me everyday.
My mom and my sister show me unconditional support in all that I do, which I am eternally grateful for.
Some of my dearest friends that inspire me to create and be the best version of myself on a daily basis are Payton, Morgan, Moose, Madi, and Max. These humans are all creatives themselves and are always pushing to inspire me in the visions I bring to life. They remind me of love and all the good things in the world that are worth creating for/about.
I’d also like to say how supremely grateful I am for the band UNWELL. They have given me more firsts within the last year than I can count. My first tour, my first entire merch line release, my first vinyl design (I am an avid record collector, so this was huge for me). They just continue to let me run with my vision and trust me entirely with so many important things. They let me live out my dreams on a daily basis, and I’ve made absolute lifelong friendships with all of the guys that I wouldn’t have found anywhere else. So, thank you to UNWELL, the sickest pop punk band in the world from Detroit, MI!
