We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Trinh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Our mantra is ‘feed the soul, find your solace.’ At Made by Solace, we embrace the beauty of imperfection, the art of stillness, and the transformative power of mindful movement. Inspired by Wabi-Sabi, we believe wellness is not about perfection—it’s about finding harmony in the ebb and flow of life. My vision was to design a space where members feel at home, leaving their worries at the door and bringing their intentions into their workout. A place where movement meets mindfulness, where rest and recovery are just as important as strength, and where like-minded individuals can connect and build their community. Solace isn’t just a workout—it’s a lifestyle.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Made by Solace is more than just a 45-minute workout—it’s wellness experience. What sets us apart is our emphasis on both movement and recovery, ensuring our members have a space to push their limits while also prioritizing rest and self-care.

I truly believe in the universe’s divine timing. After years of experience in customer service, marketing, wedding planning, and managing an eCommerce business, I felt confident taking the leap into opening my first brick-and-mortar space. But like any startup, it came with its challenges—securing a lease, troubleshooting construction issues, strategizing marketing, and managing a brand. Through it all, I’ve learned to trust my gut and embrace the process.

At its core, Solace is here to feed the soul. It’s a place for people to connect, reset, and grow stronger—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. True luxury is not extravagant; it is found in the quiet moments of presence, in the deep breath between movements, and in the space where strength and serenity coexist. Our Lagree inspired wellness studio is designed as a sanctuary—a place where movement, mindfulness, and restoration come together to nourish both body and soul.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting, we’d start with a Lagree class at Made by Solace, followed by a matcha from Three Fields Coffee and a meal at Alice’s Kitchen for the best SGV eats. Another day would be spent strolling Malibu Beach in Beaches Only Swim, indulging in a dozen oysters at Broad Street Oyster Co., shopping, and ending the night with an incredible dinner at Bestia. For a perfect Sunday reset, we’d unwind with a relaxing massage at The Now Massage, then wrap up the trip with some delicious DTLA tacos.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
