We had the good fortune of connecting with Krishna Branch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krishna, what’s your definition for success?
For me, success is all about being healthy, happy, and being able to take care of myself and my financial responsibilities without too much hardship. I think being financially successful can definitely contribute to achieving the goals of being healthy and happy in this county, but I don’t think money is the only measure of success. Being able to do what I love and spending time with people and in places that I love, is success to me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Makeup artistry, while a very creative field, has always been about solving problems for me. I love giving advice and helping the everyday person discover how to use makeup in a way that works for them and makes them feel good about themselves. But right now, I am in a transition in my career where I don’t only want to help the everyday person, but I want to be a part of telling larger stories. Working in tv/film and music videos as a makeup artist is a way for me to be part of a team of people who are helping to make someone’s artistic vision come to life and that is really exciting to me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m an introvert, so showing a friend around town for a whole week actually sounds like a nightmare lmao. But seriously, I like to keep it pretty low key with maybe a museum visit or two. Or lounging at the beach all day is an ideal summer hang for me.
Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc. that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
I feel like every person I come into contact with can teach me a little bit about myself and about the world. I hope that I am taking some wisdom and learning from every situation I find myself in. I wouldn’t say that I’ve had one specific mentor in my life, but there are many people who have encouraged me along the way. My parents, my husband, and my siblings have always been supportive and given me encouragement to pursue whatever it is I have my heart set on. And I also feel like in some ways, my online communities have been some of my biggest mentors. I’ve learned so much from the connections I’ve made over the years and I don’t think I’d be where I am today without some of the connections with the online beauty community.
