We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristen Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristen, what matters most to you?
It never hurts to take a step back from yourself to “check in” and maintain good practice in keeping two feet on the ground.
Humility is a value that has always appealed to me and further, drawn a distinct line between those who are (for example) successful and REAL successful.
The difference, to me, is monumental.
My personal idea of one who is “REAL successful” carries a lot more than just money in their pocket. They are anything but arrogant and continue to have an open mind no matter what they may have already achieved. They possess the unique and discreet quality of being (perhaps) the most successful person in a room but never choosing to let it be known….simply because their scale of “success” goes far deeper than appearance or acknowledgement. Because of humility, they understand that opportunity can be right under your nose and if you’re too busy sniffing your own “greatness”, you could miss out on something bigger and better.
Bonus Value: Positivity.
Because it just feels so much better than being negative. 🙂
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve pretty much done every job on the planet at one time or another. Being creative by nature, I was lucky enough to find a way to make a living as an Esthetician focusing on brow shaping, lash extensions, and makeup, which fulfilled (somewhat) of my creative needs. Although I still maintain my Esthetician license, I am now filling the empty spot in myself that might only be understood by others lucky enough to know what it’s like to have true passion for something.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly, any of my bff’s and I would most likely never leave my backyard, doesn’t take much to entertain us! Haha But if we did decide to venture out, it would be the beach, a thrift store, or driving around neighborhoods looking at homes we love. Could be anywhere from the hills of Lemon Heights, to Long Beach. We like to fly by the seat of our pants. 🙂 Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My friend Kiersten Owen from Rope The Moon! She has helped me out tremendously. With many years of experience in the fashion industry, she basically took me under her wing and taught me things I would have struggled with had she not been there to support me. I am forever grateful for her!
I would like to thank my Dad, Karl, and my Mom, Denise, aka “Kaptain and Dee Dee”. They are my biggest fans and have supported me so much along this creative journey that I have chosen.
I would also like to thank my Brother, Derek. He is always there for me and gives me that extra support and comfort when I need it most.
Of course, my daughters Lauren and Brookie who think that everything I do is amazing! Haha Afterall, they are the reason Kooper Leather exists!
