Meet Kristofer Gordon | Actor, Writer, Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristofer Gordon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristofer, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Well, whether people realize it or not… risk is a part of life; its all around us. There’s no way to avoid it and no way to get around it. If you take action… there’s a risk it won’t work out. If you don’t take action you run the risk being stuck in the same place your entire life. I’ve never been the type of person that’s ok being stuck wondering “what if”. What if I’d taken the risk.
Now, I’m not saying take dumb risks, like going to Vegas and betting every thing you have on Black. Whatever risks I take are always calculated… and thankfully they’ve been working out in my favor so far.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
“What sets me apart from others?” Oddly enough, I’ve gotten that question a few times recently… and the answer is always the same. What sets me apart from others is the same thing that sets other apart from me. We all have unique experiences that shape our view of the world and therefore shape our art. My experiences have shaped my taste in film and television… and I’m excited to say lead me to work on producing a feature film titled Douen aka Papa Bois. There’s still a lot of work to do but I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to put a great team together and things are looking very good so far.
I’ve been able to get to where I am professionally by taking calculated risks and having an almost delusional belief in myself. Have there been challenges? Of course. Was it easy? Nothing in life worth while ever is. I’m by no means where I want to be yet, but if there’s anything I can impart on people reading this interview is to not skimp on the journey. The person you’re becoming on the way to where you want to be is WHO you need to be to get there.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Whenever I have friends or family in town I always try to take them to Lakers Game (if I can find tickets and it’s basketball season), a live music spot (thankfully LA has many), and one of the many cool flea markets. Since I’m a lover of all things “antique”, one of my favorite flea markets is the one at the Rose Bowl every other Sunday.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without the love and support of my parents I wouldn’t be here. Any and all success I have… past, present, or future is because of them.
